2020 Elections

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

All the more reason to keep jobs in America.

Leftists high school drop outs - why get an education to better ourselves only to step into a job just to sustain ourselves when leftists politicians promise to sustain us for free. Lazy leftist kids these days.

Have you always been so stupid or did you have to work on it and cultivate it over time? Have you ever thought of killing yourself? "Keeping jobs in America" has nothing to do with what I posted. The rest of your "leftist" this and "leftist" that I do not consider even worth commenting on. Now go and practice your "rightist" nonsense all the rest of the day. Have a "rightist" hamberder and then watch some "rightist" television to reassure yourself that you are, in fact, "rightist" and righteous. After that take a "rightist" shit and spend the rest of the day admiring all the "rightist" electricity and water coming into your house. Then after your "rightist" dinner you may get lucky and get some "rightist" pussy and then go to sleep in your "rightist" bed. Make sure you're on the right side of it. Fucking moron

Yes, it does. The more job choices, the better.

No surprise there. But on that topic, I'd like to "keep jobs in America" too, but how would you do that by relying on the companies who are always ready to go to/buy from whatever poverty-ridden place they can go to save a few bucks on labor. If anyone can come up with an idea to "keep jobs in America" without federal intervention in the process, let's hear it.

It is pansy 1 FAT CAN's desperate deflection when you busted him on what Sanders and lefties are really saying, neoplacebo. To sustain such a level of stupid I think it takes genetics, environment and effort. I would be thrilled to have her/him investigate a crime I committed, but it would suck to be a crime victim and have her/him on the case.

How about anti-intervention federal action? End the direct and indirect subsidies for fossil fuels, thus allowing renewables to compete on a level playing field and creating far more American jobs per unit of energy delivered.

Sure, fine for the energy industry, but it would do little for all the other industries that have migrated to China or wherever. What has worked well is to get foreign companies to do business in the US, like SC has done with Michelin, BMW, etc. If you're holding a job in America, it's an "American job" no matter where the company is headquartered.

I guess it's federal intervention, though not directly in industry, to enact single-payer healthcare. This would remove a huge burden for US businesses, thus in theory allowing them to compete more effectively with the rest of the world.

Those SC plants come thanks to massive state, though mostly not federal, subsidies.

The feds can also remove the de facto subsidies for outsourcing in tax policy, another anti-intervention step.

But, that's all just trying to respond to your challenge. Unlike knee jerk dogmatic and self-defeating cons, I have no problem in principle with federal intervention.

Corporate America has been selling out the American worker for about 50 years. Remember when clothes and furniture and televisions and stoves and refrigerators and washing machines and dryers and a lot of other things were made in the USA? Kids today have no concept of that. I remember when "made in Japan" automatically meant "junk." The time and chance to "keep jobs here" is long past. trump bleated and squawked that he was going to do just that, and he's even said he has done that, but he hasn't. And his mindless cult followers actually believe him. The boat for the American worker sailed a long time ago and it's not coming back. Anybody notice how so so many jobs "came back" after the latest massive infusion of corporate welfare? Me either.

Idiot; China has been doing that for decades.....but we buy more from them than they do from us. Do some research before making yourself look stupid. Google "US exports to China by year" and you will learn something; your brain must have a lot of free space. Use it for something other than being a gullible cult member.

The VW plant here in TN is another example. And here's another example of how "rightists" fight AGAINST the American worker. TN politicians squawked and quacked all over the place when the possibility of the VW works being unionized came up. They did everything in their power to prevent that. Yet they totally disregard the fact that the German car companies in Germany are heavily unionized, especially Mercedes. And fools like the cat fan cheer on "rightists" because they're so gullible they believe anything they're told without using any sense that they may have. Hilarious. Once again. "rightists" fight hard AGAINST the American worker and have convinced a lot of them that the opposite is true. You can't fix stupid; all you can do is try to draw them a picture and most of the time even that fails. sad

Making China Great Again. 1 FAT CAN's own link:
... Beijing's pledges go further than China has in the past, but the agreement doesn't require the government to change any laws or regulations.

And China still didn't give ground on some of the most important issues for America, such as demands for cuts to state subsidies that could trigger a fundamental overhaul of how the Chinese economy works. That is among several sticking points that the two sides are expected to discuss for the next phase of the agreement.
For now, the deal is expected to bring some relief to Chinese manufacturers, who have suffered from tariffs that made their goods more expensive. It also lifts some of the uncertainty that had been clouding companies' decisions to invest in China.

Additionally, the agreement fits neatly into one of Beijing's key goals: to diversify its economy and reform its financial system. China's central bank said in a statement Thursday that the deal would help it continue to open up the country's financial sector....
Opps.

In July 2019, Sun Valley Rice won a contract with a Chinese importer, making it the first US rice producer to sell rice to China.

China will import American rice for the first time

CNN associated journalist reports are so vague, what year did America actually sell China rice.
