Super Bowl Ads

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Super Bowl LII Commercials: The good, the bad, and the WTF

IMO not a good year for Super Bowl ads. Any that you feel strongly enough about to remark on?

My favorite was "Dirty Dancing" with Beckham and Manning. The Alexa ad was good. Most did not impress.

We agree (posted above). Funny that it's not even a real ad but rather an NFL promo. I guess this is why it didn't get mentioned in the article.

Selling public service or Rams? Firm defends Super Bowl ad

In the 60-second spot aired during the Super Bowl, viewers see images of the rugged Ram pickup along with people working, helping others or hugging loved ones.

The images are set against audio of "The Drum Major Instinct" sermon delivered by Martin Luther King Jr. at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta exactly 50 years ago, in which he says that in order to be "great" and to serve the greater good, "you only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love."

Missing from the Ram ad are the slain civil rights leader's words in the same speech guarding against commercialism: "In order to make your neighbors envious, you must drive this type of car ... And you know, before you know it, you're just buying that stuff. That's the way advertisers do it." ...

that's low. I never liked dodge. I must have had a premonition.

Agreed. Hated some, didn't care about most. Only liked a couple:

I did like the ongoing NFL nods to racial justice.

This Was the Worst Super Bowl Commercial, According to a Survey of Thousands of Viewers

Perhaps Super Bowl 2019 fans aren’t the target audience for Andy Warhol.

Thousands of Super Bowl LLIII viewers say they think Burger King’s commercial featuring the late and legendary artist was the worst ad of the night....
Idk if it was "the Worst", but I thought it was pretty bad. I also thought it was stupid. Those of us that remember Warhol are worried about strokes and heart attacks, and are not eating fast food burgers.

It's been a long time since Andy Warhol was in conscious thought, other than maybe occasionally when walking past the soup section in the grocery. I'm not sure I would have recognized him if I'd seen the ad cold during the game.

I thought it was a modern actor portraying Warhol. But, I guess we're all thinking about Burger King now, so maybe the ad was successful.

Not if it's purpose was to get us to actually buy and eat some of their food. ;)

But according to the article, it really was him... "The Burger King commercial, which aired during the game’s fourth quarter, featured a 37-year-old clip of Warhol unwrapping and eating a burger from the fast-food chain"

I bet if Warhol was still around, he'd do a painting of Trump.
