Re: 2016 Elections
Think Cape Breton property will still be affordable in 2020?
I don't know, we do have Bernie this time but running for POTUS at 74, like Trump will be, is sketchy.

It's actually quite warm there, the temperature moderated by the ocean. It's next to Maine. All of if further south than Seattle or Paris, and well south of Britain.Seth Milner wrote:I'm sure you can walk to Greenland in the winter? Too damn cold for me!
Granted, I'm comparing it to here in Winnipeg.

Cape Breton is one of the most beautiful places in the world. One of my frat brothers was a professor at Cape Breton University for about 30 years. I've visited a couple of times and wouldn't hesitate a minute to live there, despite being a hard core warm weather guy. Just a little further to roll the O Really winter residence.

Diversity in the POTUS race:
A black
A woman
A Jew
2 Cubans
2 1/2 Spanish speakers
One or more nutcases
That thing on Trump's head
A Canadian and a guy from VT, which might as well be Canada
America.

I mean c'mon, where do you think he got the moral authority to mock John McCain's military service?

A guy who had, “more training militarily than a lot of the guys that go into the military,” who still shunned military service only to later become a hawk when his ass was safe is that much more of a cowardly creep.

Re: 2016 Elections
I always felt I was in the military too; I've been to two goat roping's, three county fairs, and read one year's subscription of "Military World " magazine. . .rstrong wrote: After receiving draft deferments through the Vietnam War, he told his biographer that he nevertheless “always felt that I was in the military” because of his education at a military-themed boarding school. What a friggin' idiot. When I was fresh out of high school, I had a summer job in an exclusive automobile detail shop that catered to the wealthy. Most brought their personal cars or limos in bi-weekly to have them cleaned, waxed, and to have the engines spotless. I got to know many of the world's top brands of luxury cars; how they were made, inside and out and what products NOT to use on them, either in cleaning or buffing to a mirrored shine.
I liked that job so well and performed my duties so well, that I got to be the most highly paid (and tipped) of the crew; and I continued working there all through my four years of college. That job and the knowledge of it's peculiarities that set it apart from normal car care made me an expert in my field; so much that I have the education and ability to be president of any one of the world's top automobile manufacturers!
Hell, I think I'll throw my hat in the ring for office of POTUS!

Bad news for Ted Cruz: his eligibility for president is going to court
Interesting development and good discussion.
Personally, I think anyone born a citizen and any naturalized citizen should be eligible to run for president. The voters can decide whether they like it or not and shouldn't have their options limited. It's not like we're still at risk of being stealthily taken over by British aristocracy.
However, as with Citizen's United it's hilarious to see constitutional originalism and birfer-ism come back to bite the GOP on its ass. I would go to a "Send Ted Cruz Back to Canada" rally just for the fun of it. Better yet, make him go live in socialist Cuba for the rest of his life.

Voting on this would be useless. The SCOTUS would strike a vote down as unconstitutional; it's happened before.Personally, I think anyone born a citizen and any naturalized citizen should be eligible to run for president.

Re: 2016 Elections
I checked because I thought maybe he was answering this:
As I thought was clear from my post under the detailed article on the topic -
Making naturalized citizens eligible to run for president would take a constitutional amendment, which voters have no direct say in. SCOTUS can't strike that down.
Then, if a naturalized citizen runs, voters can decide whether they like her/him or not.

Re: 2016 Elections
Having the Supreme Court decide that Ted Cruz is ineligible because he was born in Canada, would give Cruz some credibility for his claims of being a "Washington outsider."
