The Dog Thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

That's incredible! Puts those jumping/swimming frisbee dogs they have at the street festivals to shame.

A rescue dog credited with saving at least seven people from the rubble of the April 16 earthquake in Ecuador has died.

After days of searching for quake survivors, Dayko suffered heatstroke last week which then led to a heart attack, the City of Ibarra Fire Department said on Facebook.

The organization posted pictures of the 4-year-old Labrador in tribute to his heroism in the aftermath of the magnitude 7.8 temblor, which left at least 650 people dead:

Dayko was known for "his good sense of smell and charisma" and the "beautiful friendship" he established with his handler, Alex Yela, the department said.

The best thing about having a dog as a companion is you can act like something
really good just happened and they'll instantly start celebrating too;
and they have no idea what you're celebrating; they're just always ready to party --
no matter what . . .

No, it's not; it's a photo downloaded off the Internet, although Spook highly resembles the dog in the photo.

No, not really, but to some they may. Spook has his own special features and personality; like the Lab in the photo, he always has this "what're we gonna do now?" expression. He's 7 years old with the heart and spunk of a 2 year old old; loves going fishing with me, as well as hiking and loading up in the truck for a ride in the countryside, which we do a lot of nowadays. He can spot wildlife in the fields and woods long before I have any inkling they're there.
Great friend.

I know that; I'm not that thin-skinned; much to the chagrin of the Bobbsey Twins.

Depends on one's taste in dogs. They show those ugly dog contest winners; how in hell . . . never mind.

The ones they serve in the form of General Tso's chicken at the place up the road from me are pretty good.
