2020 Elections

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

I watched part of his public reaming of Nielson, he could be up and coming.

Good, I caught just a bit of her appearance and knew that she was lying - parsing 'shithole' into "tough language". I didn't see him tearing into her until your link.

Happened to hear this lie, too:

Trump's Homeland Security Chief Not Sure If Norway Is Mostly White

All Dolt .45 appointees are rapidly forced to either blatantly lie for him or throw him under the bus. There is no middle ground given the outrageous and offensive stuff he spews.

Who would have guessed that the Bush II years would be the good old days?

At least the Trumpanzee has a clear guide to how to boost his ratings.

I'm guessing that would be to run a couple of planes into buildings? Problem is, Bush the Younger actually had a pretty good initial response. I don't think Trump could avoid making an obviously bigger mess.

No need to go even that far. Just wait for something like Iran–U.S. RQ-170 incident happening under Trump. When they don't return the stealth drone - or worse, object to the drone - Trump can launch his war over their aggression.

And the Trumpsuckers would support him. Heck, even Dick Cheney criticized Obama for not responding to the RQ-170 incident with air strikes.

CNN poll: Trump trails Sanders, Biden, Oprah in 2020 matchups

... In a series of hypothetical 2020 one-on-one contests Trump trails Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders by a 55% to 42% margin among registered voters. He lags further behind former Vice President Joe Biden by a wide 57% to 40% split, and trails television personality Oprah Winfrey by a 51% to 42% divide....

Bernie Sanders 'is considering another run for the presidency,' former campaign manager says

If he runs there is a fair chance that I'll support him, but I would rather that he cultivated a younger progressive and threw himself and all of his team's resources behind electing her/him.

Agreed, but who is on the Dem's bench?

Names have been tossed around. Some are listed in this topic and some I'm inclined to like. My feeling is that if Bernie! is good enough to be POTUS, he's good enough to assess younger talent and then help it win. It will make me sad if Bernie! is all that we progressives have.

2020 wouldn't be the first year that a person could be elected president who was a "who he" a couple or so years before. Those would include, on first thought, Carter, Clinton, and, maybe to a lesser degree, Kennedy.

They won, but otherwise maybe not the best examples to cite. ;)

Baby Shrub, too. We really only knew his daddy.

GOP Congressman Abandons Re-election Bid Due To Alcoholism

Kudos to his eventual honesty and bravery. Also, it's good to finally see a GOP congressman with a legit excuse for being so stupid.

It will be a tough for a Dem to win Virginia's 5th congressional district, though.

They had their flaws, and might not have been the best candidates from some standpoints, but you can't argue with "they won..." I worked for McGovern, worked for McCarthy, all for nothing. Think what a different world we might have had if either of them, or Al Gore had won. McGovern might have been a crappy President; Gore might have been, too, but either of them would have been preferable to what we got. Lombardi had a point.

No, Gore was hosed by a biased ref call, but Bush still got the ring.

I doubt that Bernie! will run again and Warren may also be too old, but the Dems do need a version of them, socialist or not, that has dramatic vision and unwavering principles that will inspire people.
Then again:

Elizabeth Warren Says She's Taking a 'Hard Look' at Running for President in 2020

She'll be 71 in 2020. If she was 20 years younger, there's no one that I would support other than her. I may back her in the primaries, regardless.

Raul will be 90 in 2021, if he's even still alive. The world needs a Castro to be in charge somewhere. :D

President Avenatti? Lawyer for Stormy Daniels and Julie Swetnick wants the 2020 Democratic nomination, arguing that no one will swing harder at Trump

No. I oppose any political rookie running for federal office or Governor. Anyone think he could win the nomination?
