Tree Hugger Thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Rep. McGrady, thank you for opposing HB 56 on Aug. 31!
Sen. Edwards, you have another chance to do the right thing for NC.

Please vote against any attempt to override Gov. Roy Cooper’s veto of HB 56. It gives NO additional funding to the NC state agencies charged with protecting drinking water and preventing illegal chemicals from being dumped into NC rivers, despite the obscene cuts that have been made to these agencies' staffing in recent years. It would weaken storm water and solid waste regulation, and even repeal the Outer Banks plastic bag ban!

HB 56 rejects protecting the environment and health of all North Carolinians.

The North Carolina Constitution (Article XIV Section 5) enshrines environmental protection. It is time for the General Assembly to support fundamental rights to clean water and freedom from toxic dumping!

Thank you,
(Vrede too), RN

Gov. Roy Cooper’s veto of HB 56 was overridden on 10/4. :(

Rep. McGrady was the sole GOP 'No' in either house.
Sen. Edwards voted for water pollution.

You mean the taxpayers will likely lose most of them.

I'd say that the taxpayers will win, but will pay the costs of doing so. Oh well, we're used to covering for slacker cons and businesses.

Logging company’s suit against Greenpeace tossed

A logging company’s lawsuit accusing Greenpeace and another environmental group of libel and racketeering for describing the company as a “forest destroyer” was dismissed Monday by a San Francisco federal judge, who said the organizations were exercising their freedom of speech.

Resolute Forest Products alleged that Greenpeace and a Bay Area nonprofit called Stand had engaged in a “disinformation campaign,” starting in 2012, about the company’s logging in the boreal forest of northern and western Canada to boost their own fundraising....

The company filed its suit in May 2016 in federal court in Georgia, but a judge there transferred the case to San Francisco, finding that it was closely connected to events and organizations in the Bay Area. On Monday, U.S. District Judge Jon Tigar dismissed the case and ordered Resolute Forest Products to reimburse the environmental groups for their attorneys’ fees and court costs.

Under U.S. Supreme Court rulings, a “public figure” who is suing for libel must prove not only that another person’s statements were false and damaging, but also that they were knowingly or recklessly false. Tigar said Resolute Forest Products, which describes itself as the world’s largest producer of newsprint, is a “public figure” in the lumber industry, and had failed to offer evidence of lies or reckless falsehoods by the environmental groups....

The company is wasting its time, said Daniel Brindis of Greenpeace USA.

“It is time for Resolute to finally work with environmental organizations, including Greenpeace, to address their destructive forestry operations and forge a sustainable and collaborative path forward,” he said.

It doesn't matter. It's like inviting Eminem to provide live commentary on football. The comedy may not be intentional, but it's real.

On the other hand those watching America won't rule out a Trump victory in his rap battle against Eminem. Nobody thought Trump was going to win the Presidency either.

It's a pattern.

Her father was a Democratic activist.
Prior to donating to Donald Trump's campaign, they donated to the campaigns of Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, and Chris Christie.
Knight Craft has been married three times and divorced twice.

The first female United States Ambassador to Canada. Not sure if she's bi or trans, nttawwt.

I expect her to represent 'both sides' of the 'whether to invade Canada' debate.

Check out the two videos. Environmental protest done right, which is why it got the knee-jerk government response.

They're safe, it can't be impersonating a government agency until there's an "Australien" government.
