I tried to explain that "English as a second language" doesn't mean they're trying to replace English. In fact the opposite. Its classes for people trying to learn English and fit in. In other words, if you don't like people NOT speaking English, ESL is something you should support!

But because that doesn't fit the narrative, it's blatantly ignored, and the Facebook outrage continues, because people like to be outraged at something.

Usually people deal with cognitive dissonance by trying to find some sort of resolution - finding some kind of rationalization, or changing their conclusion. People in my hometown don't find this necessary. You could provide them with concrete evidence that proves without a doubt that their claim is false, and they'll happily ignore it entirely opting instead to continue on with their falsehood because it aligns with their worldview.
