The Facebook Thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

One is a patriot. The other is a son of a Russian stooge, but that might not be his fault. He does look sharp compared to his non-military father, our chickenhawk POTUS and his silver spoon non-military sons.

Ummm, I believe maybe over half those people might have died to keep slavery, directly or indirectly. And I'm pretty sure there was a lot of thanks from the ones saved to the ones actually doing the saving - as well as quite a few black soldiers fighting for their own freedom and that of their families. Besides, if all those 620,000 opposed slavery, why were they even fighting?

At least it's an admission from (probably) some redneck that the war was over slavery.

A real patriot.....

"Kaine was among "five or six people all dressed in black clothing from head to toe" who entered the State Capitol and set off fireworks and smoke bombs, according to a St. Paul Police Department incident report."

Oh wait...! Vrede said protesting is their right .... as well is vandalism and destruction of public property ... got it.

Yeah but that doesn't fit the narrative of what they feel so that's all fake news.

Plus, many, probably most from the North were drafted and/or fought to preserve the Union and didn't give a damn about slaves. Rednecks fail math, history and honesty, again.

Anyhow:
Obama Awards Civil War Medal of Honor

... “This medal is a reminder that no matter how long it takes, it is never too late to do the right thing,” Obama said....

Image

“I’m mindful that I might not be standing here today as president had it not been for the ultimate sacrifices of those courageous Americans,” Obama said. “Today we honor just one of those men, Lieutenant Alonzo Cushing, who, as Lincoln said, gave their last full measure of devotion.” ...
The nation and "President of Black People" ;) have no greater thanks to offer.

As the war progressed, abolition also became a rallying cry.

Note: Minor edit above while you were posting.

I'm not saying otherwise, but the total of the dead espousing abolition doesn't approach even half of the 620K.

Yeah absolutely.

For the record, I don't agree with that pic I posted. I just saw it on FB and thought it was ridiculous.

Much like those who speak in tongues, Donald Trump relies upon the holy ghost to guide his hand when overcoming illiteracy.

I have no clue what you intended to link to, I got a captcha and a Facebook webpage to some wombat, Trump glorifying bunch of horseshit. I don't believe for one minute that Trump "found Jesus" as is claimed by the loons that elected him and swoon on his every word. I believe he's using his pretended "born again" position to keep his followers slobbering along behind him. It's unfortunate that his untold wealth can't buy him common intelligence.

I knew you'd pick up on that. Not necessarily a joke. A statement.
