Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Meanwhile, Trump-backed Abu Ghraib torturer and GOP nominee Rick Saccone is still leading the polls in Pennsylvania’s 18th congressional district. Instead of twitching on the end of a rope.

Billionaire investor and longtime Trump confidant Carl Icahn dumped $31.3 million of stock in a company heavily dependent on steel last week, just days before Trump announced plans to impose steep tariffs on steel imports.

CBC: Trump open to removing steel tariffs if he gets his way on NAFTA
U.S. President Donald Trump says he would only relieve Canada from the tariffs he has been threatening on steel and aluminum if a "new and fair" North American Free Trade Agreement is signed.
So there it is. It's about pressuring Canada to cave in on NAFTA.

Canada imports far more manufactured goods from the US than it exports. I saw a figure that Canada imports 50% of the US's steel exports, but I don't know if that's raw steel or manufactured goods that use steel.

Either way, it's time for Ottawa to remind people with some sabre rattling of its own. If steel production is a "national security" issue then so is manufacturing.

Since Trump is hung up on coal, that would be a good target too. Canada's coal fields are in the west, and they export a lot of coal to Asia and elsewhere. But Canada's steel mills and heavy industry are in the east, so they import most of their coal from much closer mines in the US. A destructive trade war in that sector couldn't hurt the environment.

Section 18 of the U.S. code says that "whoever … knowingly manufactures, reproduces, sells, or purchases for resale, either separately or appended to any article manufactured or sold, any likeness" of the presidential seal for non-official government use "shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than six months, or both."

or could it be just another of his fake knockoffs?

wiki says that trump made up a special trump seal

Trump's Seal[edit]
Following his election in 2016, a website purporting to be affiliated to President-elect Donald Trump issued a series of commercial products bearing his name and modified versions of the seal which The Daily Caller has reported is the actual seal.[49][50] It is unclear whether this violates 18 USC 713 (as above). The coin does not feature some of the various elements or has different elements from that found in the actual seal.

Bad link, here:

‘Trump, Inc.’ Podcast Extra: The Trump Organization Ordered Golf Course Markers With the Presidential Seal. That May Be Illegal.

To be fair, the integrity of the Presidential Seal or anything else presidential isn't as meaningful as it was 14 months ago.

I may be wrong about that.

It may be about supporting the Republican side in the March 13 special House election in western Pennsylvania, part of the steel belt. Trump is headlining a Saturday rally in support of Abu Ghraib torturer Rick Saccone. (With Republicans, never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by pure evil.)

Which means that Trump may declare victory and flip-flop on the issue a week from now.

I see that Saccone's Wikipedia entry has recently been whitewashed.

Rick Saccone (R) is +3 in one recent poll. Conor Lamb (D) is +3 in a different recent poll.

Very possibly wishful thinking, but I'm gonna go with the trend and predict a Lamb victory.

There are 21 states in which adultery is a crime. In Wisconsin and Michigan it's a felony.

So depending on the particulars of Trump's affair with Daniels, it might or might not be a crime, and if it is, then attempting to cover it up by paying off Daniels may be obstruction of justice.

:D Might be a stretch, though. It might take Melania claiming to be a victim, and would take a willingness to prosecute, a jury willing to convict, and courts willing to uphold constitutionality.

Adultery: United States

Even with President* Trump I would not vote to convict, probably ;) , though I would convict for campaign finance law violation.

I'd still consider the obstruction of justice more of an impeachment-worthy issue than Bill Clinton lying about his affair.
