Presidents* Trump & Putin bromance

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

According to Trump: "Many lawyers and top law firms want to represent me in the Russia case ... don't believe the Fake News narrative that it is hard to find a lawyer who wants to take this on," the President wrote in a pair of tweets. "Fame & fortune will NEVER be turned down by a lawyer, though some are conflicted. Problem is that a new ... lawyer or law firm will take months to get up to speed (if for no other reason than they can bill more), which is unfair to our great country - and I am very happy with my existing team. Besides, there was NO COLLUSION with Russia, except by Crooked Hillary and the Dems!

It was observed that if "many lawyers" want to work for Trump it's only because there is such a large number of lawyers in the US, but the question is, how many of those who would take the work are qualified to do a competent job. It was also observed that he didn't help his case by insulting those few who might represent him by implying they would do it for the "fame and fortune" and would intentionally and unnecessarily run up the billings in the process. This isn't a good thing for a person with a history of not paying his bills to say. And it says something also that while it's true some lawyers will take a case for the potential notoriety, that they view Trump's toxicity as worse than the "fame" they'd get from the case. Basically, everybody knows he's guilty, not going to take their advice, hang them out to dry and not pay them.

And to add to the funny - everybody else around him has had no trouble getting good lawyers.

Maybe Trump can draft a lawyer.

A graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Law School.

A professor who taught U.S. Supreme Court litigation.

Who served on the legal team a previous President.

Who, as a member of Congress, knows the system inside and out.

Whose positions largely align with Trump's.

Who is also known for cheerfully denying his own well-documented actions.

I'm talking of course, about Ted Cruz.

He could also go with a lawyer with experience defending husbands accused of affairs.

Who also has plenty of White House experience.

And experience fending off special counsel investigations of Presidents.

Hillary.

It would take a bit of a flip-flop on Trump's part, but no more than his flip-flop going from the Iraq invasion being the biggest mistake in American history to appointing John R. Bolton as National Security Advisor.

What's the chance that Putin is throwing trump a lifeline or even that there is an actual conspiracy?

Putin carries out a chemical attack to cross trump's red line.
trump thumps chest, fires a few missiles and kills a some people.
Putin backs down and assures trump personally that Assad will never do it again while trump is in office.
trump thumps chest again
many people, many people from both sides cheer trump
trump thumps chest again
trump fires Muller
many people, many people from both sides cheer trump

The pundits are saying that the message in the pardoning of Scooter Libby is clear - if you lie on behalf of your boss - Cheney then, now President* Trump - you will be protected.

US, UK, and France launch a strike on targets in Syria.

https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way ... s-on-syria

Trump responds on twitter:
What will we get for bombing Syria besides more debt and a possible long term conflict? Obama needs Congressional approval.

https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/sta ... 7184401408
Oops, wait a second. Wrong one. Let me try again.
AGAIN, TO OUR VERY FOOLISH LEADER, DO NOT ATTACK SYRIA - IF YOU DO MANY VERY BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN & FROM THAT FIGHT THE U.S. GETS NOTHING!

https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/sta ... 84?lang=en
Dammit wrong one again. Let's try this again, but more clearly:
What I am saying is stay out of Syria.

https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/sta ... 64?lang=en
One last time, let's be absolutely direct this time:
We should stay the hell out of Syria, the "rebels" are just as bad as the current regime. WHAT WILL WE GET FOR OUR LIVES AND $ BILLIONS?ZERO

https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/sta ... 64?lang=en
Aw hell. I give up.
You aren't doing it wrong if no one knows what you are doing.

Trump Can’t Find A Lawyer And Tweeters Think It's Hilarious

Lots of good ones there. One of my favorites:
Matthew Dowd

A porn star hired a better attorney than the President has, or even can. Let that sink in for a moment.
It took much longer than a moment but honestly, who would you rather work for - a porn star or President* Trump or any other Repug?

Lots of lawyers would work for most Repugs, just as they'll work for other criminals and sleazebags. The key, however, is the expectation (or not) of getting paid and/or actually getting listened to. Nobody wants to get ignored, thrown under the bus, publicly humiliated, and not paid.

Agreed, but even assuming responsible and bill-paying clients all around, wouldn't you still rather work for a porn star than President* Trump or any other Repug? ;) I would sure rather treat one. :D

Well sure. But I don't have a problem working for someone with different political views from mine - and have done so regularly over the years. I don't have a problem working for someone who is "guilty" and do my best to minimize the impact on their company. But I wouldn't and haven't ever worked for anybody who is intentionally and willfully in violation of something and wants me to help them get by with it.

I'm wondering if Trump will run for a second term as John Barron. Or whatever name he used on the Stormy Daniels NDA.
