Presidents* Trump & Putin bromance

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

I thought we were discussing the generals. Do you think that distancing themselves from President* Trump will help Republicans in the primaries?
Of course, if they do it in time. You'll hear a lot of how Trump "wasn't really a Republican." Heck, we heard that about Bush II, used to justify voting Republican in 2008.

The one constant we can depend on Trump for is that no matter how bad his scandals, he'll top them with something that'll make us forget about what came before. So *mostly* it's not about having never supported Trump; it's about not supporting him in his last scandals before leaving office.

Mostly, because the Trump stench is stuck to Christie and probably Romney for life. The reverse is also true: The Republican hatred of Paul Ryan and Mitchell McConnell whipped up by Trump won't go away. The only winners will be those who simply walked away before getting Trump all over them.

This may include Rick Santorum and Michele Bachmann.
We disagree. With about 87% of Republicans still approving of President* Trump, I think that distancing themselves from him will hurt Republicans in the primaries. Then, not distancing themselves from him will hurt Republicans in the generals.

For now they do. But it's only a matter of when the tide turns.

If Republicans don't do well in the mid-terms, Trump will get the blame. Trump may then get some actual Republican challengers in 2020, rather than the incumbent being chosen again by default. It'll be messy, and Republican challengers will fight over who gets the anti-Trump crown rather than it going to the Democratic candidate.

If he lasts the first term by some miracle, I don't think President* Trump runs again.

The Republican Party's only hope:

- Trump doesn't want to run again.
- And Republicans in Congress get a promise from him that he won't run again.
- And they trust him to hold that promise.
- In return for a standard-in-Congress deal where the investigation against him is dropped because he's not running again.
- And the deal must include his kids not being further investigated.
- Sorry, Jared.
- And Robert Mueller agrees, free to go after the rest of the Trump team.

Anything else, and Trump goes scorched earth on the rest of the party. Accusing those who don't fully support him when the end comes of betrayal when speaking to alt-right and Tea Party crowds. Reminding conservative crowds about who DO support him to the bitter end, while distributing Romney/Christie style hostage photos. And accusing Ted Cruz of being - most damning of all - Ted Cruz.

So, you're saying that yertle and thumper are going to promise each other something.

Watch out for flying pigs, animated tableware and cows jumping over the moon.

I don't expect for a moment that it'll happen. But it's the Republican Party's best hope.

A false hope is better than nothing.

It would also trigger Mexico's 'if needed' building and paying for a wall. Clever.

Also, the purchase by trump was while prices were skyrocketing in Florida and most everywhere else. The sale to the Russians was when bush destroyed the economy and you couldn't sell much of anything.

Found:
Trump hires the best people......and then Bob Mueller indicts them.
Benghazi 8 years zero indictments. Trump Treason 1 year 19 indictments 7 guilty pleas and Mueller just started.
He will say he didn't even know him, and that Gates only provided coffee and tea.
Have any Trump appointees been caught working for the United States?

A key figure in the Trump-Russia investigation is also a convicted pedophile

To be fair, these meetings really were about child <ahem> "adoption".

Aw, c'mon. Even non-Trump, non-Moore Republicans are OK with that.

Consider Ted Nugent, a favorite of Family Values Republicans like Mike Huckabee, who adopted the minor he was having a relationship with because he couldn't legally marry her. For the 2013 State of the Union Address, Democrats invited Bobak Ferdowsi, Systems Engineer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, commonly referred to as the "Mohawk Guy." Republicans brought in Ted Nugent.

Trump Can’t Find A Lawyer And Tweeters Think It's Hilarious

Lots of good ones there. One of my favorites:
Matthew Dowd
‏Verified account @matthewjdowd

A porn star hired a better attorney than the President has, or even can. Let that sink in for a moment.
