Government set to borrow nearly 1 trillion

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Government set to borrow nearly $1 trillion this year, an 84 percent jump from last year

Obama and Clinton were destroying the country?
-0-?
Clinton - deficits to surpluses.
Shrub - surpluses to deficits, reduced the deficit only 3 years out of 8.
Obama - reduced the deficit each year in office.
POSPOTUS - drastically increases the deficit.

Don't forget where it started. Reagan deficit larger than all previous administrations combined.

Opps, Obama should read: reduced the deficit 5 years out of 8, often massively, had 1 year with little change, 2 years with slight increases.

Republicans like to assign the record 2009 deficit to Obama. In reality it was passed by Congress in 2008.

They like to blame Obama for the $700 Billion TARP bailout. That too was passed under Bush II. You may remember McCain "suspending his campaign" to rush back to Washington to with his own competing bank bailout package and budget to compete with Bush II's.

The decision to bail out the auto companies was made by Bush, with the first payments made before the election and then later in December 2008.

I don't do that in my tally, and I credit Obama for the more modest deficit increase in FY2017.

Republicans also like to stupidly start the Obama debt clock on 1/20/09.

With a Republican administration - especially one run by Trump - you'd think they'd find new ways to generate revenue.

The government for example names all the hurricanes and tropical storms. Just think of the revenue they could make selling natural disaster naming rights to corporate sponsors.

Would that be companies sponsoring competitors' names?

There's an upside to hurricanes: You might get a free boat delivered to your front yard.
