My former hospital once offered a child's ATV in a raffle. Nice of the company to donate, but inappropriate. Apparently, I wasn't the only staffer to complain, the raffle was canceled.

Maddie is not close to 10 ... she's 8 years old.

Would depend on the type of accident. Regular rollover or running into a tree would be better with the seatbelt. Probably more of them than running into ponds. Probably would have been safer without an 8-year old at the wheel.

I always have a seatbelt cutter/window hammer within reach in my vehicles, and I just gave one to my new driver niece.
