Can't make this (stuff) up

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Donald Trump Coins

-0-?

I don't even see any coins, but that's what I'd expect with Donald.

A wooden nickel with the trumphole on one side and a Russkiy stripper on the other would be appropriate. And a $3 bill.
I will not lie down.
I will not go quietly.

It would take an act of Congress to change the three dollar bill; Clinton's already on it; been there for years.

Boaty McBoatface: What You Get When You Let the Internet Decide

A proposal by a British government agency to let the Internet suggest a name for a $287 million polar research ship probably seemed like a good idea at the time.

Now, the agency is the latest group to see what happens when web users are asked to unleash their creative energy: R.R.S. Boaty McBoatface is a clear front-runner....

The initiatives are often hilarious but don’t often succeed. Remember when Slovak lawmakers overrode the public’s vote in 2012 to rename a pedestrian bridge after the actor Chuck Norris?...

The poll closes April 16 — that is, if the Natural Environment Research Council can ever get the crashed polling website back online again.

'Boaty McBoatface' sinks as UK names research ship

Britain will name a new polar research ship “Sir David Attenborough” despite a public vote which was in favour of the joke name “Boaty McBoatface”....

Other suggestions included “Clifford The Big Red Boat” and “Usain Boat”.

James Hand, who first made the “Boaty McBoatface” suggestion, apologised to the NERC on Twitter, saying: “I’m terribly sorry about all of this.” ...

McBoatface lead scientist: how famed submarine will help unlock the causes of deep sea warming

Image

The research submarine Boaty McBoatface is about to be used for the first time. Boaty is world-famous thanks to its name: the result of a joke entry to a naming contest that went viral, but few know what the sub will actually do. Well, I am currently lead scientist on RSS James Clark Ross, Boaty’s parent ship, which just set sail from Chile. Here’s what we want to find out.

Around the world, deeper ocean waters have been steadily warming over the past few decades, faster than we would expect simply through overall climate change. This suggests that global warming has triggered some sort of a change in deep sea circulation, which has sent extra heat into the lowest layers of the ocean. On its maiden voyage, Boaty will help us investigate why this is....

Back in 2000 the Conservative Party here in Canada was gung-ho about direct democracy. Their policy would have required a referendum on any proposal supported by a petition signed by 3% of Canadian voters.

Comedian Rick Mercer circulated a petition proposing that party leader Stockwell Day change his first name to Doris. It quickly got the required number of votes. And that was the end of that policy.

Whoops. One of our million dollar denomination coins got pocketed in Germany. (At today's gold price it's actually worth $4 million.)

When people empty their pockets as they go through security to leave the country, I hope airport personnel are taking a close look at the coins being placed in the trays.
