The Religion Thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Pat Robertson thinks he is Wonder Woman, nttawwt.

Pat Robertson Casts ‘Shield Of Protection’ Ahead Of Hurricane Florence
Televangelist sends out an anti-storm incantation via the Christian Broadcasting Network.

Could he get some believers killed with this crap? Comments:
To receive Pat Robertson's Protective Shield, send $19.95, includes S&H, to Televangelist Hurricane Protection Shield. Right now, with this impending hurricane moving fast, he will add a second protective shield for the price of $19.95; just pay for S&H. Call 1-800-GOD-PROTECT, now!, before the hurricane destroys your home, and perhaps you and your love ones. Don't wait, call now. Pat Robertson has a hotline to God, and he tells Him whom to protect. Robertson's proven Protect Shield of prayers saved countless lives and billions of dollars from destruction in Puerto Rico with Hurricane Maria; and don't forget Katrina because Pat's work was there also. Call now.

That's a steal, probably cheaper than calling one of those psychic networks!

Do you think ol'pat caused the turn to the south by praying too much for Virginia?

I wonder if the shield is a genuine Trojans or some Dollar Store knock-off brand?

No, that was me praying that SC would get hit . . . ummm, I mean that Whack9 would have some days off work next week.

Plus, Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell have been doing god's work turning VA blue an more secular. I wouldn't want anything to interfere with that.

So I found myself in Memphis for work a couple of days this week and ran across this:

Explanation here:

It's not far from the tallest crosses...

All this and Graceland and Beale Street, too.

Fortunately I was outta there before the storm affected flights.

Makes perfect sense, now if only the Muslims, Baptists, Catholics and a few others would adopt this.

White pastors can't dance.

Here is god healing him:

Praise Jesus! (Jesus Martinez, MD)

It did bring him closer to his (very) large congregation:

Pastor almost killed by snake during sermon vows to keep handling snakes

Shocking pictures show Cody Coots fighting to stay alive in hospital while on life support. His face and airways were left badly swollen and bruised after he allowed a timber rattlesnake to bite him during a sermon.

Cody knew better than anyone about the dangers of handling snakes as he took over his congregation from his father, after he died from a snake bite during a sermon in 2014.

In disturbing footage taken from the sermon in Middlesboro, Kentucky, Cody looks clearly unstable after the snake lunged at his ear, and he asks the congregation to take him to the mountaintop where God would judge whether he lives or dies.

Fortunately, one of his congregation saw sense and took him to a hospital instead, where doctors said the snake came close to severing his temporal artery, which would have almost certainly killed him....

Cody admitted that he feels ‘like maybe there’s part of me missing’....
Part of his brain, but that predated the snake bite.

The hospital was located on a mountaintop.

I saw that video where his father met his Waterloo.
I couldn't understand what the people were saying, but I understood what the snake said ....

I was hiking in Panthertown Valley a few weeks ago and nearly stepped on a rattlesnake. I probably missed it by 4-5 inches, no joke. First time I've ever seen one in the wild while out hiking.
I paid my fees to hip-hop college, sucka!

Lady O and I were riding the Hawthorne Trail out of Gainesville across Payne's Prarie. I saw what looked like a fallen branch across the trail and slowed down to move it. Got close to it and saw it to be be the biggest rattler I've ever seen in the wild. Had to be 6 ft long and looked as big around as a 3-4" pvc pipe. So he moved along to the side, no harm done, but we were thinking - snake like that doesn't live by himself, and probably most of his friends and family are big too. Wide eyes the whole rest of the ride. Didn't pray about it, though.

When I lived in Columbus, I was told Panthertown was somewhere around Broadway and Lexington Avenues.
I can envision plenty of snakes in that part of Asheville.

I'm sure they patrol the area regularly.

Speaking of bears, no one has seen our bear in a couple of weeks. It seems that he didn't care for the last wooded lot being cleared.
Makes walking the dog a little less exciting.
