The Religion Thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Yep, you're wrong .... dead wrong. Thinking, obviously, is not your best quality.

Despite their being put on a pedestal and worshiped by a liberalized, morals-declining society, we don't believe that homosexuals have
mastered the art of flying .... So no .... we don't believe in "sky fairies".

Panel #7 would indicate bowing down to a priest, preacher, pope, or whatever that's supposed to symbolize.
We don't do that either. You ought to get out more often; stop copy & pasting useless hate agendas unless you know their meaning.

I didn't and still don't even know what your "come back" means, but ok, by all means be self-impressed.

Thank you, I will.
Also, thanks for your admission that comprehension also is not one of your qualities. Didn't you say one time you graduated high school?

Maybe I'm living in the wrong part of the world; but I've never heard political support in the pulpit of any church I've attended a service in;
and the day it does, regardless who I favor, I will get up and walk out.

Repealing that directive would be a mistake .... but I don't sign petitions.

How do you know this, billydot? Did the pastor of your church thump support for a candidate ? ..... oh wait, never mind.

History: 1894 feds exempt churches from paying their fair share

and 1913.2
The Wilson-Gorham Tariff Act of 1894 -- famous for its income tax provisions later found unconstitutional by the Supreme Court -- provided an exemption for "corporations, companies, or associations organized and conducted solely for charitable, religious, or educational purposes, including fraternal beneficiary associations."3 Despite its rapid invalidation, the law looms large in the history of exemption provisions. As the IRS has noted, "the exemption language contained in the act would provide the cornerstone for tax legislation involving charitable organizations for the next century."4
Fifteen years later, Congress lifted much of the 1894 language when carving out an exemption from the 1909 corporate income tax. The new tax would not apply to "any corporation or association organized and operated exclusively for religious, charitable, or educational purposes, no part of the net income of which inures to the benefit of any private stockholder or individual," lawmakers wrote. The new restrictions on private inurement would prove durable.

It's always amazing how some fools think that an anecdote - their own church, say - has any relevance to what is widely known and easily looked up - the longstanding campaign by rightwing Christians to allow their churches and pastors using church resources to endorse candidates while remaining tax exempt.
