Gun Legislation

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

I sometimes watch fox so you don't have to

Thank you for your service.

Rep. Eric Swalwell on fox just said,

D-CA15, eastern Alameda County (suburban Bay Area).

"We have to hope and pray that this stuff stops."

Why would anyone leave mccain off a list of assholes?
Idk, but I'm guessing that it was just a glitch given that she re-posted his pic and the article that lists him as #1. It would be really dumb to do it for some McCain-protecting reason while also posting the McCain condemnation.
Maybe she felt bad pointing at him because of his cancer, but wasn't he the one who explained his recent vote by saying, why should other people have insurance, look at me, I've good the best health care in the world and it can't save me.

Big screwup by me. The guy on fox was a repug rep who looked a little like swalwell. My fogged early a.m. brain suggested Eric, so I googled rep Eric and the very good congressman popped up and I went with it.
The whack congressman on fox has a thinner face and lighter hair.

It was James Langford.

Evidence collected over many years, obtained from many locations, indicates that the power of Prayer is insufficient to stop bullets from killing school children.

Going only by the headline, I found it believable. I was a bit surprised to find it was from the Onion. That's not good. They really have advocated for armed teachers, students armed on college campuses, guns allowed by permit holders on school grounds, churches, etc.

You think it will ever sink in to the general public that it is easier for an 18-year old to buy a gun than to score a six-pack and about the same degree of difficulty as buying spray paint and airplane model glue?

It's been over five years since the Newtown Massacre. Five years since the NRA demanded loaded guns in every classroom. The above headline is pretty much where I expected they'd be by now.

How white nationalists fooled the media about Florida shooter
ABC, AP and others ran with false information on shooter’s ties to extremist groups.

I don't get the point. People that learn this will know that white nationalists are immature liars. People that don't learn this will associate white nationalists with school shooters.

I don't get it either, but it got me. Everything I read said he was a white supremacist.

I think he is, at least a racist rightwinger according to his own online posts. The only thing that's been debunked so far is his supposed association with the "Republic of Florida".

Now I wonder about the 39 times he was reported to the local cops who were so praised by trump for doing such a great job

Unless they could have convicted him of a felony or gotten him involuntarily committed by a judge, things I haven't read a rationale for yet, they could not have taken any of his 10 guns away.

Tell Mastercard, Visa, and other major credit card companies:

Nah, I don't think it'll ever happen, just stirring shit up by signing.

I'll sign.

And likely the same result if the FBI had followed the single lead that went to them. So then, did trump meet with and thank the FBI?

Nah, he smeared them and thanked the ones who never respond until enough backup is in place to insure complete safety.

Yeah, fuck the NRA.

What really helped do it in for me were those disgusting, incendiary videos they released trying to further sow discord between my countrymen. The stuff was straight up propoganda. Fuck 'em.

Traitors.

But hey man, unfortunately, I guess most people's lives are so miserable that all they have left is outrage. Gotta have something to be pissed off at; a make believe enemy to point a finger at.

It must be exhausting to be pissed off all the time.

I can't believe what a bunch of effin' tools and fools otherwise reasonable people can get played so easily. The NRA and its robots have totally perfected the technique of distraction and re-pointing the subject. Instead of keeping on topic, way too many people have followed the shiny object of "arm the teachers" and are arguing over whether or not that's a good idea. Good idea or bad, arming the teachers isn't the effin' point. And schools aren't the only places of mass shootings. Pro-regulation people need to learn to deal with red herrings.

Us: "We want military-style firearms, high capacity magazines banned, and more restrictions on purchase of firearms."
Them: "No, we need to arm teachers."
Us: OK, arm the teachers, but "We want military-style firearms, high capacity magazines banned, and more restrictions on purchase of firearms."
Them: "No, we need to improve mental health stuff."
Us: OK, reform mental health care, but "We want military-style firearms, high capacity magazines banned, and more restrictions on purchase of firearms."
Them: "But the Second Amendment..."
Us: OK, work on laws that are Constitutional under existing SC decisions, but "We want military-style firearms, high capacity magazines banned, and more restrictions on purchase of firearms."
etc.

Learn it or keep getting killed - literally as well as figuratively.

Come for the discounts, stay for the opposition to common sense gun laws.
