The Music Thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Prince can levitate too.

Oh yeah fun fact, Prince used Dave Chapelle's parody of him on an album cover: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breakfast_Can_Wait

BTW Prince's love of the color purple came from being a lifelong Vikings Fan.

@StribJany I briefly played football with Prince at Central. We both played wide receiver. He quit to play music. Loser.

Just a reminder: We're coming up on a 40-year anniversary:

October 16, 1976 - Rick Dees' "Disco Duck" hits #1 in the charts.

I was "in a coma" for much of the 1970s 8-) . For example, I have zero memory of Rick Dees or Disco Duck, which is a good thing.

They used to be called "Shaman" and were a little less metally. Also digging them as well.

I liked it, too, thanks. The fiddle player is too cool.

I met a few Finns sailing, they were all nuts.

I like how that one dude in the beginning just pops out of the outhouse with a fiddle and starts jamming. He was probably like "hold up guys gotta drop a deuce real bad sorry". His band mates were probably like goddamnit Sven you better hurry we're on a tight budget, we ain't it time for this shit, so he says fuck it takes his fiddle with him, does his business, feels a million times better and just bursts out the shitter and just starts laying it down hard on the fiddle... rest if the band is like fuck yeah go Sven and the dude with the one drum just starts going to town beating the drums like he probably beats his wife, song is performed flawlessly.

Oh wow, dudes, I thought the video shoot was next week. I'll pop in this shed and make a violin with the primitive tools there. That's how cool I am. You guys set up and check the lighting. Matti, smack the drum and Jonne, you chop a stump when you're ready.

In Finland they don't need electricity to power their electric guitars, they simply use elven magic and the spirits of the local nature sprites, judging from this music video.

The Yes Pandora station is a staple of mine. Also can't go wrong with King Crimson and Jethro Tull!

The beats in A Tribe Called Quest's "Low End Theory" are unmatched. Probably the most legendary musical release since Beethoven's fifth. Respect.
