Goddamn Europe is fucked:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPb91eT ... be&t=4m29s

German friend of mine was saying it's not so bad in the large cities. She was saying people in her town (a medium sized city) are becoming pretty pissed though as there's a noticeable change. Another thing they're worried about is the growth of right wing extremists that have been gaining some traction in response to so many migrants flooding in.

The West's ham-fisted response in Iraq, Syria, and Libya are to blame, there's no doubt. Even Ghadaffi warned this would've happened if he was knocked out of power. Lo and behold.

And don't get me wrong, legit Syrian refugees with families and what not, yeah help those guys out.

On another note: "What in God's cock is going on?"

I think I've found a new saying. The guy in the video has some homerphobe caliber insults, I'll give him that. They should give him his own TV show where they put him in situations that make him mad just so we can hear him rant off insults.
You aren't doing it wrong if no one knows what you are doing.

Keep in mind that this sort of thing pre-dates the Syrian problem and Ghadaffi's overthrow. In fact large numbers of Libyan refugees showing on Europe's southern coast was the main reason why the west suddenly took an interest in overthrowing Ghadaffi. The Syria situation simply made it worse.

The camp in Calais has long been "last stop" before Britain, where refugees can be treated as refugees with the right to asylum, rather than illegal immigrants / prisoners. Demolishing that camp and moving people to camps farther away - as they're doing this week - is destroying a lot of their hopes.

What you're seeing isn't Europe in general, not by a long shot. It's the immediate area around the camp in Calais.

Before ANY of those problems, France was already making it worse. They brought in workers from Africa the way America brings in workers from Mexico. But neither they nor their children nor their grandchildren born in France were given citizenship. And so you have large numbers of children of immigrants born and raised in France who aren't even second-class citizens. And they know it. And they've rioted.

Now imagine this in a country where large-scale riots by union workers, students, cab drivers and farmers are common. Where bossnappings - strikers kidnapping their bosses and holding them hostage - is a time-honored negotiating tactic. What you're seeing is the French equivalent of picketing.

Despite right-wingnut claims, it won't happen in the US. Refugees there are given citizenship. Even children born of illegal immigrants are given citizenship.

Being A Refugee Doesn't Make You A Criminal

Refugees who come to this country seeking a safe home for their families won’t find it in South Carolina. At least, not if South Carolina lawmakers have their way.

They’re trying to pass S. 997 – a bill that, if passed, would immediately turn refugees into suspected criminals.

It would require law enforcement to investigate refugees – even after they’re vetted by FBI, the National Counterterrorism Center, the Department of Homeland Security, the State Department, and the U.N.

This is not about danger or national security. This is about irrational fear and xenophobia.

Refugees need safety and protection in South Carolina – not more persecution. Add your name now to oppose S. 997.
To Governor Nikki Haley:

Do not allow S. 997 to become law. It is a xenophobic policy promoted by a fearmongering few – and it is thoroughly un-American. In your Republican Address to the Nation, you reminded us that, “During anxious times, it can be tempting to follow the siren call of the angriest voices. We must resist that temptation.” Resist this temptation now – pledge to veto S. 997.

 Good timing on that one.

From Just Foreign Policy:
Your Representative in Congress - Rep. Mark Meadows - was one of 27 Members who signed a bipartisan letter to President Obama urging him to maintain his opposition to sending MANPADs to Syrian insurgents.

Please call Rep. Mark Meadows at (202) 225-6401 and say thank you - and ask them to take another step to limit military escalation.

When you reach a staffer, you can say something like,

"As your constituent, I thank you for your leadership in signing the Conyers-Yoho letter against sending MANPADs to Syrian insurgents. I urge you to co-sponsor the Lieu-Yoho bill, HJR 90, to condition US military support for Saudi Arabia on Saudi cooperation against terrorism and protection of civilians in Yemen." ...
Man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS or MPADS) are shoulder-launched surface-to-air missiles (SAMs). They are typically guided weapons and are a threat to low-flying aircraft, especially helicopters.

I'm not calling, Meadows probably did it for the wrong reasons.

As of July 17th, Canada has resettled 29,207 Syrian refugees. Another 2,479 applications are finalized, but the refugees have not yet travelled to Canada. A further 17,523 applications are in progress.

They're being spread out in over 300 communities across Canada. The idea is to integrate them into Canadian society, rather than having European-style ghettos and enclaves.

A wonderful thing happened on Wednesday when one family got lost....

Well, both countries have done this before on a larger scale. Vietnamese boat people after the Vietnam War for example. The United States resettled 402,382 refugees. Canada resettled 100,012.

I understand the political climate in the United States is a tad different now....

Plus, it was harder to deny our responsibility to the Vietnamese boat people. Many more nations and groups have Syrian blood on their hands.

We just had another boat people crisis. 1,500 Americans came ashore illegally in Ontario on rafts and inner tubes yesterday, and had to be rescued by the Canadian Coast Guard, Border Service Agency and police.
"There were people in places you'd never think something would float, but there were Americans everywhere," Peter Garapick of the Canadian Coast Guard said.
This is only going to get worse if Trump wins in October.
