The car thread ...

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Police: Video shows Venus Williams 'lawfully entered' intersection ahead of fatal accident

So, all the people that were blaming Williams, especially the racists, were flat out wrong. The Nissan Altima that made a left turn in front of Williams' vehicle was at fault, and so was white (not that it matters) Linda Barson. Even if the light turns green, you don't have the right of way unless the intersection is clear.

Racism may have been involved, but people just love trashing wealthy sports/celebrity people. And then there's the issue of who has the "deep pockets" whenever anybody gets killed. Unless they're shot, of course, and then it's just "opps - accidents happen."

I solely meant the people that were overtly racist in their blaming of Williams. I agree that others had different motives.

Still a tragedy, but I'm glad that Williams has been exonerated. It made me sad to think that she might have killed someone.

True, but usually for specific events and crimes rather than mass surveillance, blanket fishing, suppression of dissent, discriminatory snooping, etc. Plus, I have no say over what a business does.

Not going to take the bait, huh.
All those cameras creep me out, even as they're being used to identify crooks or track missing persons.

Truck Driver Beats 74-Year-Old Cyclist In Canada (article)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCuh8Dr0npE

A 65 and a 74-year-old. It takes a long time for that wall of Canadian politeness to finally crumble. Two differences from the US: no guns, all the Good Samaritans that got involved.

Comment:
A real Canadian would have used a hockey stick.

Pruitt probably wouldn't, but maybe there is occasionally a fight he doesn't want. Sometimes, my signature is just to call an asshole an asshole. Anyhow, this one's going to Congress, too.
