For GoCubsGo:
Clark the Cub stumps these Jeopardy! contestants

... And so, the lack of respect for Clark the Cub continues. Being immortalized as an answer on Jeopardy! should be a good thing, but this turned out to be an embarrassing result for Clark.

It's tough to make a pant less mascot feel more shame, but this one has got to sting.

Such a civic embarrassment, as if being a Cub fan wasn't tough enough!! I always thought they should have just adapted Ronnie Woo Woo.

Hey, the Mets are still in first place. Beat the Phillies today. Have to
celebrate now, just in case things go south later on, a distinct possibility.
You don't gotta believe, but it sure helps. :sunny:

The Mets are hanging on to first place by their fingernails. It was good
while it lasted. The Cubbies are doing pretty good so far, compared
to the last five years or so. I don't blame Obama. I wouldn't follow the
Yankees on Twitter.

Nope, but if I did, it wouldn't be the Yankees. I have a Twitter account
with lots of tweets about X rated sex stuff with old time Hollywood
stars. I went back after not posting for almost two years and it's
still there. Sweet. -0-?

Lennie Merullo dies at 98, he was the last living Cub to play in World Series

... He played for the Cubs in the 1945 World Series, in the middle of his seven-year MLB career, all of which was with the Cubs. The team, of course, hasn't won a World Series since 1908....

Speaking of family, this may be the most impressive thing about Lennie Merullo: He was the first of four generations of Merullos to play pro baseball. His son Len was a prospect with the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1960s, then Len's son Matt played for parts of six seasons in the big leagues and is now a minor-league manager in the Baltimore Orioles organization. Matt's son Nick signed with the Orioles last summer.

You have to figure one of them will see the Cubs break their World Series drought.
Good start but the Cards are pulling away and the Cubs have fallen to the wildcard bubble. Maybe next year.

The Cubs are who I thought they were, young, sometimes brilliant, other times their inexperience is glaring. It's only the beginning of June, in another 3 or 4 weeks we'll find out if we are buyers or not for this season (in Theo we trust, he's doing exactly what he said he would and/or planned).

In the meantime, go Blackhawks! Hockey playoffs are without a doubt the most exciting and gut wrenching in sports!

In second in the East and close, 3rd for the wild card slot. But, you've got a new hero.
Steven Matz dominates Reds during debut ... at the plate

... He allowed two runs on five hits over 7 2/3 innings during his debut. He walked three and struck out six....

In his first at-bat, Matz delivered a two-run double, giving himself a 2-1 lead. Apparently, that was(n't) enough. Matz singled in the fifth inning, reaching base for the second time. In his third, and final, at-bat, Matz drove in two more runs with another single. He finished 3 for 3, with four RBI at the plate.

Turns out, Matz's performance at the plate was pretty special.

Steven Matz is the 1st pitcher in MLB history to drive in 4 runs in his MLB debut. He pitched pretty well too. ...

With the unimpressive Mets' offense, they need all the help they can get, even
from the pitcher. I don't know what David Wright's exact situation is at present,
but it doesn't seem to look very promising. I'm not even thinking about the wild
card race yet.

Looks like WGN is no longer broadcasting Cubs' games. I watch MLB on the
weekends sometimes. They seem to like showing Yankees' games, though of
the two I've seen the Yankees lost both, and the first one was a total slaughter.

Not much of a rivalry as there was when they were in the same
division way back in the day, like in 1969. I feel a little bad
for the Cubbies. They're playing pretty well, better than they
have in quite some time, but the Cards are so dominate it
won't matter. Wait till next year. :)

Whoa, Mets leading the NL East, Cubs in the 2nd NL Wild Card slot on a 9-1, won their last 4 tear. Good for you guys.

Can either beat the Cards in the playoffs, though?

If the season ended now the Mets win the NL East and play the Dodgers, the Cubs play the Pirates in the Wild Card round then face the Cards if they win.

Good luck, guys, I'd like to see the Mets play the Cubs or the Pirates for the NLC.
