But then there's Georgia again on Saturday
We lost Bubba early in the season and Kerryon more than made up for the loss. I hope he's ready for the game, but the way he went down looked like something that doesn't go away in a day or two.
Without disrespect to his football ability, do you suppose when his mama named him she realized it would sound just like "carrion" on TV? Seems if I were an opposing defenseman I might make some comment about "dead meat."

Could be why everyone calls him KJ

Funny

I never thought of that, but I bet he's heard it before

That reminds me of a question I've wondered about for years regarding the names people use. You can't control the name your parent(s) put on the birth certificate, but you can decide which name you'll use regularly. And you can change a particularly horrid name when you're 18. So why keep using a name that people can't pronounce, or that has an instant bad connotation (here's to you, Dick Gore and Harry Butz).

PSC rankings:

1 Clemson (11-1)
2 Auburn (10-2)
3 Oklahoma (11-1)
4 Wisconsin (12-0)
5 Alabama (11-1)
6 Georgia (11-1)
7 Miami (FL) (10-1)
8 Ohio State (10-2)
9 Penn State (10-2)
10 USC (10-2)
11 TCU (10-2)
12 Stanford (9-3)

Here's my thinking:
The ACC, BIg 10 and SEC winners are in the playoffs and the losers are out, with a slight chance that Ohio State misses out if it wins the BIg 10.
Oklahoma is in if it wins. TCU has a slight chance of getting in if it wins the Big 12, which I don't want.
Stanford does not get in if it wins the Pac 12. USC has a very slight chance of getting in if it wins, which I don't want.
A TCU win most likely puts Alabama in.

Edited for final Yahoo! spreads:

Just 7 games this week.

Go (AP rankings, spreads will change some):

#14 Stanford +3 +4 vs #11 USC. Gotta go with my brother's alma mater.

Unbeaten #12 UCF -7.5 -7.5 vs 10-1 #16 Memphis. Memphis only lost to UCF in week 5, 40-13.

#25 Fresno St. +9.5 +9 @ Boise St. The sequel. Sticking with your advice, bp. They've got the same Mountain West conference and overall records and Fresno St. won the head-to-head 28-17, so why is the game @ Boise St. and why is Boise St. favored? :headscratch: It's not a Yahoo! glitch, Vegas says the same thing. This conference championship barely squeaked into our pool with Fresno St. being at #25.

#7 Miami +10 +9.5 @ #1 Clemson. The 2nd most important game to me. The big spread makes it even easier.

Unbeaten #3 Wisconsin +5.5 +6.5 vs #8 Ohio St. Go Badgers, all the way! Cool, even a bigger spread for what I was doing anyhow.

#10 TCU +7 vs #2 Oklahoma.
This is the only game that creates any questions.
I prefer USC over Oklahoma, Alabama and TCU, but it probably has no chance of sneaking in.
I have no real preference between Oklahoma and Alabama, but wouldn't want 2 Alabama teams in and Roy Moore makes the state more evil than usual at the moment.
I prefer Oklahoma over TCU. Might as well let this be my guide rather than overthinking. So:
#2 Oklahoma -7 vs #10 TCU.

I’ll root for either Auburn or GA if one winning makes 2 SEC playoff teams less likely. I’ll have to see what the PSC does late Tuesday and what the talking heads then say. If neither win helps AL more, I may root for Auburn in solidarity with you....

Alabama’s gonna be pissed off if it’s the only 1-loss major conference team to miss the playoffs, awww.
#4 Auburn -2.5 vs #6 Georgia. I'm surprised that the spread isn't larger ... with Auburn having crushed Georgia 40-17 on 11/11. I'm definitely picking Auburn unless the spread widens.

I'm picking underdogs 5-2 4-3.

Hope the rest of the team can make up for losing both first string backs this season.

It's a good team and Georgia's best win is by just a point over Notre Dame.

A win would have been nice, but Stanford beat the perfectly increased spread by one with 2 minutes left, whew.

Agreed, but AU and uga have a history of the better team losing. It's also the longest running series in the south and the rivalry stands big.

My biggest concern is how much they may have learned/improved by finally playing a good defence, but I still have faith. WDE

The Vegas spread for Auburn dropped from Yahoo!'s 2.5 to 1, ut-oh. 11 of our 16 pool players picked GA. My other big discrepancy is that 10 players picked Clemson. Those 2 games will make or break the day for me.

I also have a $30 side bet on Miami +9.5. I tried to make one on WI +6.5, but nobody bit. I thought about proposing a side bet on Stanford +4, but chickened out. Good thing, it would have been too stressful.

Wow, all sorts of yardage and scoring records, fun to watch.
UCF QB M. Milton 28/40, 494 yards, 5 TDs, 3 INTs, 64 yards rushing, QB rating 200!
Memphis QB R. Ferguson 30/42, 471 yards, 4 TDs, 1 INT (a big one!), QB rating 192.3!
1479 total yards.
Announcer said "highest scoring conference championship ever", but might have just meant AAC.
UCF 62-55 on a Memphis goal-to-go INT in 2OT, push. Good thing the spread dropped from 7.5.

 Good thing I switched!
OK 41-17.
9 of us are 2-0-1. If I go 6-0-1 I win the entire weekly $85 pot.

WDE's KJ starting, first blood!

Sigh, Auburn looked sad. It was an improbable run to contention after losing two and they came thaaat close.

With 3 games left and only a point behind, I can’t catch 2 of the 6 folks that are 3-0.
Don't care a bit about Fresno St. now.
Don't care about the WI spread, I want the outright win.
Do still care about Miami +9.5 thanks to the side bet, but I want the outright win.
