It's a problem, I'll be making picks against the spread this week or next in the Bowl Pool for games that in some cases won't be played until January.

Tough making Bowl Pool picks this year. I want WA the most, OH St. 2nd, and AL and Clemson equally the least but:

WA is the 15 1/2 point (!) underdog to AL.
Ohio State is the 3 point favorite over Clemson.

Future Odds
Alabama 4/11 (bet 11 win 4)
Ohio State 17/4 (bet 4 win 17)
Clemson 13/2 (bet 2 win 13)
Washington 15/1 (bet 1 win 15)

Ouch. So, I'm submitting 3 pick sets at $10 each. All games are against the spread except the playoff games and championship.
WA > Clemson (least likely, very few if any will pick WA, so it may not matter who it plays)
OH St. > AL (could happen)
AL > OH St. (most likely, how I do in the other games will make the difference)

I've also got:
Appalachian St. +1 > Toledo in all pick sets.
Maryland -1.5 > Boston College in 2 pick sets.
Stanford -3.5 > North Carolina in 2 pick sets.
Michigan -7 > Florida St. in all pick sets, hate that FSU chant.
Undefeated W. Michigan +7.5 > Wisconsin in 2 pick sets.
Auburn +4 > Oklahoma in 2 pick sets, because I like billy.pilgrim.

Nice, Sun Belt co-champion, 10-3 and a bowl win, their second in two years of bowl eligibility. Go Mountaineers!

Flopping some now.

First number is games straight up vs. the spread. However, some games are worth more than one point:
A top 25 team playing - 2 points. Today's LA Tech - Navy was the 1st. I picked LA Tech in all 3 sets. It won but missed the spread by 1, grrr.
Big 4 Bowls (Orange, Cotton, Rose, Sugar) - 3 points.
Playoffs - 4 points.
Championship - 6 points.

Also today:
Bahamas Bowl - push.
Dollar General Bowl - I had Ohio in 2 sets. It missed the spread by 1, grrr.
All games were 4 point spreads. Vegas (on 12/14) missed by a total of 2 points in 3 games, kinda amazing.

12 games, 13 possible points so far. They haven't said how others are doing yet.

WA > Clemson 6-6, 6 points.
OH St. > AL 8-4, 8 points.
AL > OH St. 7-5, 7 points.

Over 16 minutes into the game and Maryland is losing 13-0 and has one net yard of offense, one.

Was leading with one pick set. Didn't do great yesterday, but neither did most others. 16 pick sets in the pool, the leader has just 13 points out of 23 possible. We kinda suck.

WA > Clemson 12 points, 3-way tie for 2nd.
OH St. > AL 10 points, 3-way tie for 6th.
AL > OH St. 12 points, 3-way tie for 2nd.

Most games now are for multiple points, big lead changes are to be expected.

Although Alabama is the heavy favorite, only 7 of us took them to win it all, with 4 taking OSU, 3 picking Clemson, and 2 Washington bettors (the other is over OH St.). Go Huskies!

Picking CO -3.5 over OK St. in all 3 sets last night hurt a bit. OK St. 38-8, lol.

Now it gets real, beginning with Mich-FSU tonight. I've got Mich -7 in all 3 sets.

WA > Clemson, 4-way tie for 6th but beating the 1 other WA bettor.
OH St. > AL, 3rd. 1 other OH St. bettor is leading me by a point.
AL > OH St., 3-way tie for 10th out of 16. May not be in good shape if the most likely scenario occurs.

Of local interest, my AL & OSU pick sets have Stanford -3.5 and my WA pick set has UNC +3.5.

Wow. Wishing against UNC's drive with seconds left, then wishing it would make the 2 point point conversion so Stanford could beat the spread in OT. Nope, Stanford wins by only 2. Darn.

Ouch. Hanging in there, though

OH St. > AL, 2-way tie for 4th overall. Tied with another OSU bettor that picked it to beat WA.
WA > Clemson, 6th overall but beating the 1 other WA bettor that picked it to beat OSU.
AL > OH St., 2-way tie for 14th out of 16, just a point bettor than the 2-way tie for 15th.

Last year I won both 1st and last, getting my $10 back for the latter.

This year I have $30 in:
1st = 70% of the pot, $98.
2nd = 30% of the pot, $42.
3rd = get $10 back.
Last (16th) = get $10 back.
There are final game score-based tiebreakers.

So, today:
OH St. & AL puts me in a tie for the lead with a Clemson bettor and puts me in a tie for last with my WA > Clemson set.
OH St. & WA gives me a good shot at 2nd if OH St. wins it all, makes it unlikely for me to take last and makes the other games important for 1st vs. the other WA bettor.
WA & Clemson puts me in a tie for last and probably gives me the win if WA wins it all.
AL & Clemson is my worst result, may skunk me.

Not bad, 3 out of 4 positive scenarios.

 0-4 today with what I ended up wanting. And, I don't care who wins the BCS championship. Too bad about the Huskies.

I can still "win" last with one pick set but I'd have to lose the last 5 games before the championship, and I can still tie for 3rd (also $10 back) before the tiebreaker with one pick set but I'd have to win the last 6 games.

College football sucks.

You may have something there - at least with regard to watching any individual game. It's fun to watch games from a few decades ago when the level of play was decidedly lower, but with much more fun. NFL earns its "No Fun League" name every week. But the current elite level college teams approach the pro game. The fun games are the smaller or lesser schools, with teams of guys who are good, but not good enough to play for a top team. For many of the same reasons, plus the slight variance in rules, makes the CFL more fun than the NFL.

What a year for injury and what could have been

QB breaks his arm on the 1st drive, but plays on until nearly halftime

2nd string QB replaces him and is injured in the 3rd quarter

3rd stringer comes in and promptly establishes new personal best in interceptions

And that was only the QB

Top running back is hurt in the 3rd quarter and replaced by recovering injured back

Kinda like the whole season piled into one game

Aubbies need a Strength and Conditioning staff, maybe. Injuries are becoming more common and more debilitating.

Alabama -6½

If I cared about the game I just might take Clemson plus the 6½. It humiliated OSU.
