WDE +17! AL beat the spread by 1, crap.
USC’s Adoree' Jackson punt, catch and kickoff TDs, pretty rare. ND gets a garbage time TD with 1:02 left, goes for 2 as if they’re gonna score 16 more, misses the spread by 0.5, arrrggghhh. I go 1-6, am out of the money. :(

I have no idea why we didn't kick the easy field goal in the 4th quarter

Would have helped me a little and they did need a FG to make up the 18 point deficit, but I can see going for the TD when that far down.

Late games:

Go Vanderbilt +7.5, knock #24 Tennessee out of the top 25.
Go #13 Florida +7 vs. #15 Florida St. Nope. Hard to imagine Florida beating AL next week. AL probably goes to the playoffs even if it does lose.
2-9 down the stretch. I finish 13-14, 13 straight weeks that I've been within 2 of .500.

Looks like Alabama is in the playoffs even in the unlikely event that it loses to FL next week. Ohio State is probably in, too, even without being Big 10 Champ. Clemson and the Huskies! are in for now. If one or both lose next week, WI, PSU (playing each other), Michigan still, Penn State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and even Colorado all have a shot.

NCAA Polls

AP Rankings

1 Alabama (12-0)
2 Ohio State (11-1)
3 Clemson (11-1)
4 Washington (11-1) :!: :!: :!:
5 Michigan (10-2)
6 Wisconsin (10-2)
7 Oklahoma (9-2)
8 Penn State (10-2)
9 Colorado (10-2) :!:
10 USC (9-3)
11 Oklahoma State (9-2)
12 Florida State (9-3)
13 Western Michigan (12-0)
18 Auburn (8-4)

Coaches' Rankings

1 Alabama (12-0)
2 Ohio State (11-1)
3 Clemson (11-1)
4 Washington (11-1) :!: :!: :!:
5 Wisconsin (10-2)
6 Michigan (10-2)
7 Oklahoma (9-2)
8 Penn State (10-2)
9 Colorado (10-2) :!:
10 Oklahoma State (9-2)
14 Western Michigan (12-0)
19 Auburn (8-4)

If 8-3 Florida beats Alabama, Alabama probably stays in.
If Wisconsin beats Ohio State, it should get in.
If Virginia Tech beats Clemson, the ACC may be denied or Clemson stays in.
If Colorado beats Washington, I think it should get in but the Pac 12 may be denied.
The Oklahoma-Oklahoma State winner needs Clemson, Washington or both to lose to get in. Fortunately, I'm no Big 12 fan.
Michigan still has a shot, but I'm not sure what it would take.
I think that's it, 9 teams left with some chance at the playoffs. I don't see a path for Penn State.

Yeah, brain fart, I even posted about that above.

Ohio State is in along with AL, almost certainly.
Wisconsin or PSU wins the Big 10, still may not get in.
If Clemson or Washington loses, things get messy. The Wisconsin - PSU winner, Oklahoma-Oklahoma State winner, Colorado if it beats Washington and Michigan would all have a case, and maybe any of them could win it all. We need at least an 8 team playoff. The #9 team is far less likely to triumph than #5.

Some like the Big 12 don't have conference championships and it's a mess at the top of the Big 10, partly because the 2 divisions are currently so unbalanced. Everyone beat one or more of the other wannabes.

Go #13 W. Michigan -19 vs. Ohio, 13-0!
Go #4 Washington -7, too bad that it's #9 Colorado that the Huskies will crush.
Go Temple +3, sink #20 Navy out of the top 25.
Go Georgia Southern +8 vs. Troy, give Appalachian St. the sole Sun Belt championship.
Go #11 Oklahoma St. +12 vs. #7 Oklahoma in an ugly game, let's keep both out of the playoffs.
Go #15 Florida +24, LOL, vs. #1 Alabama.
Go Texas St. +23.5 vs. Arkansas St., give Appalachian St. the sole Sun Belt championship.
Go #19 Virginia Tech +9.5 vs. #3 Clemson, knock it out of the playoffs.
Go #6 Wisconsin -2.5 vs. #8 Penn St. - get into the playoffs?

Make sure Ms. O knows that it's tonight, Friday, 2100, pregame at 2000.

Also at 2100, The Last Waltz on PBS. Great for flipping to during commercials.

Looking at the current #s 5, 6 & 7 teams, if Clemson & Washington lose, would the playoffs be Alabama & 3 Big 10 teams - Ohio State, Michigan and the Wisconsin-Penn State winner? That would suck.

Watch this: https://twitter.com/Pac12Network/status ... wsrc%5Etfw

Wow . . . and that was with a so-so game by their QB. 25 years since their last National Championship (shared with Miami).

An ugly win by Clemson could bounce WA up to #3, though I'm not sure that OH St. is any better of a prospect than AL. A Clemson loss probably would do so while also creating a mess of a choice for #4 - Clemson still, Michigan, or the Big 10 or Big 12 champ. It sure would be nice to see the added impetus for an 8 team playoff.

It's a good thing the Huskies won. The rest of the games have totally sucked. Not unexpected, perhaps, but still sucked.

Go Texas St. +23.5 +23 vs. Arkansas St., give Appalachian St. the sole Sun Belt championship. Nope, but did beat the spread by 1. Arkansas St. and Appalachian St. never met, so they share the Sun Belt championship.
Go #19 Virginia Tech +9.5 +10 vs. #3 Clemson, knock it out of the playoffs. Nope, but did beat the spread by 3. Good game.
Go #6 Wisconsin -2.5 vs. #8 Penn St. - get into the playoffs? :( Good game. Heckuva comeback from 0-21.
I led solo briefly, flopped, finished in a 3 way tie for 2nd - $10, $65 in the red for the season, 6th worst out of 17 in money, 6th best (no prize) in season points. At 9-7 this makes it all 14 weeks where I finished within 2 points of .500. That may never happen again.

There will be lots of totally legit chatter, but I think the Playoff Selection Committee will take the easy route and just eliminate every 2 loss team, and that it can make as good a case for doing so as for doing anything else. Too bad Mich., PSU and OK. Huskies will play AL. Could be rough, but anything can happen. Go OH St. vs Clemson.

NCAA Polls

At least the Playoff Selection Committee has Auburn better than Western Michigan. :P

College Football Bowl Schedule

Cotton Jan. 2, 1 p.m., Arlington, Texas - #15 Western Mich. vs. #8 Wisconsin
Sugar Jan. 2, 8:30 p.m., New Orleans, La. - #14 Auburn vs. #7 Oklahoma

I think both will lose.

Alabama -14½ vs. Washington, ouch.
Ohio State -3 vs. Clemson, close.
Wisconsin -7½ vs. Western Michigan, not huge.
Oklahoma -5 vs. Auburn, not huge.
