Fear not; the advertising is all-American. Triple Crown winner American Pharaoh already had a deal with Monster, the energy drink, worth over $7 million.

Had the horse not won the Triple Crown, it has a back-up deal with Arby's.
American Phaoah.

The jockey was holding a can of something at the awards ceremony, I was wondering if it was a promo.

Nah man that's just what happens when you get too messed up on the fourth of July and wake up the next day and look in the mirror. It's how you know you had a good time.

Could you pass a US citizenship test?

... You must get 58 or more of these test questions correct in order to pass.
94 Correct, 2 Wrong, 98%.

I got #63 wrong, guessed correctly on #74, and disagree with the test's answer for #70.

Apparently, I'm a better American than I am a scientist.

Average reader score 83%.
According to US Citizenship and Immigration services, 92 percent of applicants pass this test.
With an average score of 83% I wonder if 92 percent of Americans by birth would pass this test.

The only one I missed was who wrote the Federalist Papers.....guess I've forgotten part of my 5th grade history lessons. But I'm ok since I don't think of myself as a Federalist anyway.

That was so lame! 94 correct, with minimal attention or effort. Sure, if I were an immigrant who didn't speak English much, hadn't gone to elementary/middle school here, yada, then it might have been more challenging. But dude - of all the things that a citizen-aspirant ought to know, those are the questions they pick? Seriously?

O Really wrote:... 94 correct ...

Probably not knowing the questions ahead of time, that would be a fair bit to absorb (along with all the things they don't ask about) for a non-native adult with a family to care for and long hours at underpaid job/s.

Understanding the reasons behind the facts is probably more important, but that gets into a morass of subjectivity. This can happen even with "facts". For example, the "correct" answer to #70 was "all of the above" when one of the listed reasons for the revolution was "high British taxes". In reality, it was more about representation in setting tariffs, with the Boston Tea Party being about newly low tea tariffs hurting colonial smugglers and black marketeers.

Did you notice that every time "all the above" or "non of the above" was an answer, it was the correct one?

I didn't mean to imply that just because we - well educated native citizens with an interest in history and politics - found it pretty easy that a real applicant for naturalization should. Nor do I think it's unreasonable to expect some level of knowledge of politics and history from someone applying to be a citizen. I'm just not convinced they hit the most important topics. And the example you gave is what I'm talking about. You can't condense the "reason for the revolution" into one multiple-guess question, even if it's a "all the above." I think I'd like to see more practical questions - understanding of the monetary system, taxes, fundamentals of employment relationships, all that stuff they sometimes do in "life skills" in high school. Make sure they have a grip on the things that will help their lives and if they don't know who (supposedly) flew a kite in a storm, so what.

It's a citizenship test, not a surviving capitalism test. ;) Heck, I still don't understand our monetary system.

I think there may have been one where it wasn't. No matter, I ain't sacrificing my principles and accurate history for 1% on a test I was sure to pass, anyhow. :D
