AFAIK O Really does not have Medicare Advantage, Part C. He's got the Part D supplement. It annoys me that there has to be a private drug supplement. Well even in Canada, about two thirds of people have supplemental, private health insurance, most frequently provided as an employment benefit. Medicare in Canada doesn't cover prescriptions, vision, dental, physical therapy, some mental care, a lot of durable medical equipment, so people get a supplement.

Agreed, but the overall rate is still 93%. Was 95%. Of course that's still 200,000 Grade 1 kids running around spreading unvaccinated snot. I'm not sure I understand why there are exemptions anyway. I could understand accommodations, if a kid is medically (not mentally) allergic. But not exemptions.

If there’s an outbreak or even a single case that leads to a death and can be conclusively linked to one of these unvaccinated kids, can the parents be held responsible?

It would be nice, but I've never heard of it happening. Even with DNA testing of the disease, as if the anti-vaxxers would ever agree to that, it still can't be 100% proven that the unvaxxed child was the source, no matter how likely. Maybe the anti-vaxxer cretins could be sued for reckless endangerment before anyone gets sick?

Montana fire chief who had refused vaccine mandate in Washington state charged in Jan. 6 riot

... Prosecutors say that Frank Dahlquist sprayed “an orange-colored chemical agent” directly into the face of one officer and later sprayed a second officer as supporters of former president Donald Trump attacked the Capitol building in Washington D.C., according to court documents unsealed Wednesday.

He was identified in part by matching his distinctive facial hair with a photo from the riot to a TV news story about firefighters who were terminated from a fire department near Seattle in April 2022 after the agency required a COVID-19 vaccination, court documents state.

Later that year, Dahlquist was named chief of West Valley Fire Rescue, near Helena, Montana....

Dahlquist was charged with assault, obstruction of law enforcement and other counts....

Once again, congressional cons come up with something too stupid for even our ultra-RW SCOTUS:
Mask mandates? Supreme Court rejects appeal from Marjorie Taylor Greene, GOP lawmakers

Three Republicans who had their pay docked in 2021 for flouting a mask mandate on the floor of the House of Representatives during the COVID pandemic got no help from the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

The justices, without comment, declined an appeal from Reps. Tom Massie (R-KY), Ralph Norman (R-SC) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) in their suit against former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Lower courts had said Pelosi could not be sued because courts don’t have jurisdiction over Congress’ internal rules....

COVIDiots and COVID-wise

A man deliberately got 217 Covid shots. Here’s what happened
Spoiler:

Nothing.
No vaccine reactions.
No passing out or sudden death.
No diminished immunity.
No enhanced immunity beyond that of the recommended regimen.
Suck on it, Kaaron Rogers, Joe Rogan, Alex Jones and other wimpy COVIDiots.
Wow, who could have predicted that?

ICYMI:
CDC recommends seniors get another Covid-19 shot

People age 65 and older should get an additional dose of the current Covid-19 vaccine, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends....

Under the new recommendation, people 65 and older can receive an additional dose of any updated Covid-19 vaccine at least four months after the previous shot.

The current Covid-19 vaccine, which was updated last fall, is considered highly effective. Early estimates from CDC studies show that although there has been no substantial waning yet, protection will wane over time. However, the protection offered by any vaccine disappears even quicker in older people because their immune systems don’t respond as well.

The initial proposal used the word “may,” but the committee changed the language to “should” to emphasize how important it is to get vaccinated against Covid-19....

Strong evidence from new research shows that the vaccine can not only prevent severe disease but may cut the chances of getting a symptomatic infection by half, including against JN.1, the most common circulating variant of the virus. Yet only about 21% of adults and about 12% of children have gotten the vaccine since its update in September, according to the CDC. By comparison, nearly half of adults and kids in the US have gotten a flu vaccine this season.

The National Immunization Survey shows that most Americans still consider Covid-19 vaccines to be safe and important, but people’s confidence in the vaccine has fallen from 83.9% in January 2022 to 69.6% last month.
COVIDiots :roll:
I got the flu shot and updated Covid-19 vaccine last Sept.
I got the RSV vaccine in Jan - not covered by Medicare, $300 :x
I'll get this Covid-19 booster the next time I visit my pharmacy. AFAIK it's still covered by Medicare and most insurance. I don't think the feds still make it free to the uninsured, but they might.
... Disease risk perception has also changed, according to the survey, and fewer adults say they are moderately or very concerned about getting Covid. Despite the general perception, Covid is still very much a threat, particularly to vulnerable populations like older people and those with underlying conditions.

There were about 20,000 new hospital admissions and 2,000 Covid-19 deaths a week as of the week ending February 17, CDC representatives told the advisory committee. Even when numbers were at their lowest last summer, there were still about 500 Covid-19 deaths per week....
:o MVC and GSW deaths are both less than 1,000 per week, yet we consider them tragedies.
Free home Covid-19 test program to be suspended this week

... Since November, residential households in the US have been able to submit an order through Covidtests.gov for four individual rapid antigen tests. All orders placed on or before Friday (Mar 8) will be fulfilled, according to ASPR, an operating division of the US Department of Health and Human Services.
They do expire, so might as well get the latest free ones. I'm not sure if they'll remain free for those on Medicare or not.
“ASPR has delivered over 1.8 billion free COVID-19 tests to the American people through COVIDTests.gov and direct distribution pathways and will continue distributing millions of tests per week to long-term care facilities, food banks, health centers, and schools,” an ASPR spokesperson said in a statement Tuesday.
GoJoeGo! :clap:
... The government previously suspended the rapid test distribution program in May after the end of the Covid-19 public health emergency. It was reopened September 25.

Residents who haven’t placed an order since then can now place two, which will provide eight tests in total, according to the US Postal Service. Each order includes four rapid antigen Covid-19 tests....
Cool! I'll do it - Done, easy peasy. FYI, you place one order then get told you can place a 2nd one if you're eligible. I was confused at first when I couldn't just place 2 orders initially. I did get a set last Fall, but changed my mailing address since then. This may be why I'm now able to get two.

We got the "new" covid shot in September, also. But when we went to Walgreen's for another one this week, the pharmacist said we didn't need it. She wasn't refusing to give us the shot, and said if we told her we had not had one for a year she'd do it, but she didn't think it was needed after 6 months. We're going to ask our real doc.

We got RSV shot also last September. It was either covered by Medicare or free. Or maybe it was a Canada Walgreen. In any case it didn't cost us anything at Walgreen.

According to the article, as of last week the CDC recommends a Spring booster for we old farts who were jabbed in September.
https://www.cnn.com/2024/02/28/health/c ... index.html
My guess is that your pharmacist just needs to catch up. I'm sure it's easy to find on the CDC website.

Your RSV shot was either covered by:
Your Medicare supplemental;
Canada;
Canada Walgreen's;
California.

It is not covered by:
US Walgreen's;
Medicare.

In my socialist pipe dreams it would have been free for all, or at least children and we elders, the moment it was available last Fall and we were facing a triple respiratory epidemic with COVID and the flu. It's cheaper than ICU beds.

Yes, it was probably the UHC prescription plan that we get along with the supplement. It's through Walgreen's. Interesting that Medicare doesn't cover treatment in Canada, but the prescription plan will apparently cover anything from Walgreen's no matter where the Walgreen's is.

'Yellowstone' star Forrie J. Smith says he was 'kicked off' flight for refusing to sit next to masked passenger
'I just told them I didn’t feel comfortable about sitting next to somebody that had to wear a mask, and I’m off the plane,' Smith said in a video posted on Instagram Saturday.

Image

:roll: :violin: It's one thing to be so stupid, far worse to whine to the world about it.
... In the comments, people asked why Smith cared if another person was wearing a mask. Many suggested instances where masking would be appropriate for protecting their health and others....

Smith has previously been vocal about his public health beliefs. He skipped the Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2022 due to Covid vaccination requirements.

"I’m not vaccinated, I will not get vaccinated,” Smith said in a now deleted Instagram video. "I believe they compromise your immunities … It’s no offense to anyone. It’s just my beliefs. I just don’t believe in that stuff."
