Trump

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

I had started a twitter account keeping track of all the dumb shit the the Trump administration has done, but there's so much I've almost given up.

A new Trump Tower opened in Vancouver today. The opening was attended by the Trumpspawn "blind trust."

Stop me if you've heard this one before... Turns out the tower is several stories shorter than claimed in the marketing materials. They included the below-ground floors in the count.

Which explains Trump's inaugural attendance figures. Obviously he's counting the below-ground attendees in Arlington National Cemetery.

Agreed, though it's sad. I've never been profoundly shocked by an election result and if Trump is elected, though depressing it won't surprise me that much nor tell me anything about US voters that I don't already know.

Maybe, maybe not. He's certainly exceeded any rational expectations so far, even while totally ignoring all historical norms. But - he's collecting huge numbers of major enemies, probably more every day, and picking up no new friends. Even his Republican toadies don't really have much if anything to gain from him and surely would rather have Pence or any other standard right-winger. And his enemies aren't just political foes. Entire departments or agencies hate him. He could maybe withstand the enemies if he was attracting strong friends, but nobody in politics (or most anywhere else) can survive when essentially everybody is after your head. Not even some other famous tyrants/strongmen. Not to be Godwined out of the discussion, but even Hitler had more friends. Trump isn't even trying to attract new support. And he keeps creating more scandal and ammunition for the enemies. July or October, whenever...he's doomed.

I disagree. Trump is useful to them. They can gut healthcare, gut environmental protections, gut education, end taxes for the rich.... and blame it all on Trump. They wrote Bush II and his legacy out of history in 2008 and 2012. And if someone else mentioned him, well, "Bush wasn't really a Republican."

Trump lets them avoid the political consequences of anything they do.

I might suggest that it's the inability and unwillingness of the wingnut voter base to deal with facts, figures and other reality-based shit lets that happen.

Reasonable idea, but I'm not sure that's working out for them.

Gotta Love those GOP Town Halls

Plus, by next year even more folks will want to vote for the pols that are most likely to impeach and convict.

Even impeachment works for Republicans.

With their majority in Congress, it'll be Republicans who will do it. Once they get enough of their agenda done - healthcare, environment, education and taxes for the rich further gutted - THEY pull the plug on Trump. And they'll keep reminding people that THEY rescued the country from him. Like Bush II, "He wasn't really a Republican."

Hard to say. I suspect that a large number of those booing and howling at town halls, et al, are not actually folks who voted for the assholes. Hard to say. NO ONE I know, who has supported the trumphole or his posse, has showed the slightest outward sign of displeasure with any of them. You may have seen the Miami businessman who sued him for an unpaid bill and won, but says he voted for the thief-in-chief and would again.

Could be, but I find it hard to imagine a majority GOP Congress impeaching and convicting. Even then, the cretinous loyalty of Trumpettes will rip the party up while the Dems will be able to run ads saying that they were the ones that stood unanimous or nearly so against Trump. I don't see impeachment until at least 2019.

Yup. As an election ploy, with constant reminders that it was REPUBLICANS who impeached him, not the Democrats who were responsible for his election in the first place. (I've already seen the latter claim a few times.)

But they may very well do it before the mid-terms.

I did, in the general. I don't recall you saying who you would have voted for in the primaries if you could have.

I do understand that you may have had to go with homeboy Ted Cruz. :P
