Dear baby Jesus, I know you sent Irma to punish us for being gay and all, but how about doing me a solid for not partaking in gay debauchery and knocking out the power at my office for a few weeks, but not at my house.

You're friend and biggest fan,

Howya gonna keep your beer cold?
Sitting in the sun covered by wet towels does pretty good. Besides, it's not like Bud Light tastes good to start with.
I've heard of this before. Does this black magic sorcery actually work?

Could also be the drugs, fear of warm beer or man-opause.

Hurricane Katia sprang up out of nowhere and strengthened more than first predicted.

It's been one year since a SpaceX Falcon 9 static fire test on the SLC-40 launch pad was reclassified as a Catastrophic Anomaly Test (CAT). Repairs on the launch pad are scheduled to be finished right about now. They won't get to use it before Irma hits.

A Falcon 9 is launching the Boeing X-37B on Thursday.
Successful launch, successful landing.

Do you flood? I know the road gets closed nearby.

Still a tropical storm when it gets here, and it may linger in the 'hood.

... States within our FEMA region have begun to request assets. Until the NC impact is known, we are not sending anything out of state. All of our teams across the state are reaching out to regional partners to encourage preparedness, as well as to our volunteer teams to provide status updates, as many of you have reached out to inquire....

Please take some time to review your deployment bags - you may not go far, but we may need you here on home turf....

Was supposed to stay a TS, now coming ashore as a Cat. 2.

And we will get the uplift.
Yes, we flood, and I am very, very happy we got out of farming.
We can cope with wet dogs and mud. Losing crops ruined us financially, and watching all our hard work wash away was horrible.
This is peak harvest time around here, and I feel for the farmers fixin to get pounded.

Over the years, we've watched dumbasses drive past the barricades, through high water. It's always entertaining to see them round the corner and find a cop waiting.

I bought a pile of Bush's beans today- $1 a can. We rarely lose power here (Frances is the only weather related outage), but one can't be too careful. Bought gallon bags to fill and freeze, and I'll fill my huge bathtub for flushing.

Need any help prepping? I think my 2nd floor condo will be okay and am unlikely to get deployed before Wed., if even then.

Thanks. I should have been more specific. The farmland, the bottoms, flood, while the house, the barn, and the kennel are safe on higher ground. The upside of flooding is, I can pretend we have waterfront property for awhile. The corn grower who leases the land gets that good federal insurance, so I don't worry about him.

The track has shifted a bit west, which puts us on the dirty side. A little farther west, and the Smokies could protect us, which happened with Andrew.

It's looking worse for you, better for us. Now they have her heading straight up the peninsula, then west of the Smokies.
Be safe!

Question. When evacuating, especially in dire conditions like south Florida, what about prisons? I'm talking maximum security down to county jails. What happens to them?

Looks like Irma's projected path has changed a little bit. Seems to be remaining a little further south than the upstate, tearing it's way through Georgia

You're not in Florida?
Still looking better for us, but I guess we won't know until she tells us.
