Well, yeah, if it really worked that way. But there's no reasonable expectation at all that their spreading will be limited to fellow MAGEts. Nevertheless, every instance where a MAGEt gets covid from or related to the rally will be celebrated in the O Really bunker. Assuming they even report the resulting covid cases, which I'm sure they'll try to cover up. Biggest celebration, though, would be if Trump or some of his top enablers got it. Or the limp-dick Tulsa mayor/governor whoever let him in.
Agreed. I have no sympathy for the Trumpettes and other Repugs, but both the rally and the RNC will be public health disasters that will affect many innocents and many states besides OK and FL. Shame on them.

Trump rally attendees dismiss heat and coronavirus concerns as they line up outside Tulsa arena
Temperatures in Tulsa have reached the 90s, and the Trump faithful are camped in an area with hardly a spot of shade

Image
Trump supporters, including a man dressed as the border wall even as the mercury hits 90° in Tulsa, line up outside outside the BOK Center arena on Thursday, two days ahead of the first Trump rally since early March.

Rick Frazier drove more than 750 miles from Ohio to be one of the first campers in line for President Donald Trump’s first rally in months, undeterred by a days-long wait in searing heat, the growing risk of the coronavirus in Oklahoma or a lukewarm reception from local officials.

The 64-year-old is among scores of supporters who have brought their vans, tents, campers and Trump flags to the parking lots and sidewalks outside the 19,000-seat BOK Center, and who say what matters most is being there to see the president take the stage on Saturday — and to be sure he knows they have his back.

“The big thing is to go in and support the president,” said Frazier, who arrived Tuesday for what will be his 21st Trump rally. Frazier said he feels safe, noting he and other campers are using hand sanitizer to prevent spread of COVID-19.
 What about heat exhaustion and stroke? Doors don't open until 1500 tomorrow and there will be long security lines to enter. Event starts at 1900.
The state supreme court is expected to rule Friday on whether rally attendees are required to adhere to CDC guidelines on face masks and social distancing. The Tulsa lawyer who brought the suit, according to the newspaper Tulsa World, said the goal is to limit the risk to public health.
Wouldn't that be a hoot if it rules sanely?
A local convenience-store chain has reportedly opted to close over concerns for employee health and safety rather than seek to capitalize on the influx of prospective shoppers.
Not fears of violence, but rather CV-19. Smart.
... Temperatures in Tulsa have reached the 90s, and the Trump faithful are camped in an area with hardly a spot of shade. While Trump said Thursday he picked Oklahoma partly because “you’ve done so well with the COVID,” the city has seen record numbers of new coronavirus cases this week, and Tulsa Health Department Director Bruce Dart has pushed for a postponement of the event.

Trump said there had been “tremendous requests for tickets” and that there will be “a crowd like I guess nobody has seen before,” creating the kind of packed, indoor space that scientists say heighten the virus’s spread as compared with outdoor gatherings.

His rallies typically include a lot of shouting and chanting, and attendees often travel from long distances, prompting fears they could be infected and then spread it to people back home, or bring it from their hometowns and become vectors within the Tulsa arena. In an attempt to protect itself from lawsuits, Trump’s campaign added language to the event registration stating guests assumed risk for exposure to COVID-19.

So I'm just playing with some non-partisan, non-political numbers, here, for fun. As of today, the total case count of those confirmed by test to have (had) covid is 2.5 million. Of those, 700K are officially "recovered." Those counts don't of course include those who (a) have no noticeable symptoms or (b) have minor symptoms but haven't been tested. So,extrapolating, there should be somewhere around .7% -1% of the overall US population currently carrying covid and able to spread it as of today. Obviously, some places have higher numbers than others, but for our game here we'll use national averages because people are coming to Trump's ego show from all over. Further, one's chances of catching covid vary according to the precautions one takes, and those going to the rally clearly do not care about precautions. Thus, they are already at a higher risk of having/getting it. Then there are "precautions" the rally organizers claim: (1) "offer" masks, but don't require them; (2) provide hand sanitizer, which may help a little but does nothing about the guy chanting in your face; (3) take temperatures, which does nothing to find those who are asymptomatic or whose symptoms don't include fever, nor probably consider the effect of standing on line-up in 90 degree heat for 3 hours. All things considered, there will be somewhere between 150 and 200 people in that arena spreading the virus. Maybe, some of the screening might pick up a few, but at least that number or more will still be out in the street crowds, in the opened restaurants/bars, in the hotels, at the airport, yada.

Statisticians may lie, but statistics don't, and this is going to be a cluster-fuck.

I hope the cat fan has tickets to this fascist fandango tomorrow. With any luck he will be so overcome with gushing in awe that he will rise up in the air and bump his head on the ceiling of the arena and interpret it as some divine trumpy shit when, in fact, it will be because he was full of gas all the time.

Take it a step further, there is an average of a 17% chance of catching it from an unmasked person, not counting an extended exposure in an indoor raucous enviroment. Conservatively (yeah, bad pun), at just the rally figure some kind of prolonged exposure to at least 100 people per covidhead in lines, at the "speech", hallways, bathrooms etc. The first rally generation (using the median) spread is almost 3,000 new cases that can take it home and infect their local unmasked Bubba's.

Citing 'irrational fears' of killer pandemic, Republicans fight face masks in Congress

A bitter dispute erupted in a congressional hearing room on Friday, with Republicans refusing to wear face coverings and Democrats insisting that they do so.

“Why is this so complicated?” a frustrated Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., said at one point in response to Republican intransigence, speaking through what appeared to be an N95 respirator. “There’s one thing we can do to try to protect other people when we’re together, which is put on a mask. It doesn’t cost us anything. Why would we not do that? Why is it some kind of macho thing, like, ‘If I don’t wear a mask, I’m tough’?”

Republicans did not appear to be moved by his appeals, or those of other Democrats. The charge against mask wearing was led by Rep. Mark Green, R-Tenn., a physician who was also a major in the U.S. Army. Green said he could “cite many other professionals” who advised against protective face coverings.

Green did not proceed to cite any such professionals....
