He has from the start of his campaign predicated what he would do by whether he was "treated fairly." As the calamity of his corruption and total incompetence continues to pile up, it would be pretty easy for him to claim he has been "witch-hunted" "unfairly" and because of that those close to him have been maligned and demeaned and he's willing to step down to prevent further damage to "good quality" innocent people.
