The car thread ...

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

I predict more than a few of these (Trackhawk SUV) will flop onto their side or top with that sort of power; the handling and control of that rig I would be suspicious of. Rather have a sports car.

I prefer this one https://motor-junkie.com/20-best-fastes ... s/21424/6/

The ZL-1 as you know it was a special 427 V8 powered drag beast from 1969 and its 2012 counterpart follows the same formula. Chevrolet took the biggest and most powerful engine GM has got – 6.2-liter supercharged V8 and stuffed it into the Camaro. The result was 580 HP street terror with highly advanced Magnetic Ride suspension, performance Goodyear tires, Brembo brakes and lots more.

I have always wanted a Porsche 911 Carrera but, alas, they are fine machines that are above my pay grade.

        2019 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1Image
Find the 455-hp 6.2-liter V-8 in the Camaro SS too boring or underpowered? Chevrolet won't tell you to get your head checked. Instead, it slaps a supercharger on that V-8, boosts the output to 650 horsepower, and installs it along with a host of suspension and styling upgrades to create the ZL1. Available as either a coupe or a convertible—with your choice of a six-speed manual transmission or a 10-speed automatic with paddle shifters—the ZL1 stands atop the Camaro pile to see eye to eye with the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 and the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. The Camaro's supercharged 6.2-liter V-8, borrowed from the pricier Chevrolet Corvette Z06, is a well-behaved and tractable beast that makes power all over the rev range and leaves black streaks all over the road. And as you'd expect, when stirred up, it leaves the sound of thunder echoing in its wake. Whether paired with the standard six-speed manual transmission or the available 10-speed automatic, the blown small-block V-8 lays down stupidly incredible performance figures. The fast-shifting automatic, as is common these days, results in quicker acceleration times than the stick, but either way the Camaro smokes its competition at the drag strip.

Dodge Demon - Death on WheelsImage
The Challenger SRT Demon is even mightier than the Hellcat version, boasting up to 840 horsepower and exclusive drag-racing equipment. While the limited-edition Demon went out of production after the 2018 model year, it remains one of the coolest and craziest cars to ever wear a Dodge badge. Dodge claims the Demon can cover the quarter-mile in 9.65 seconds at 140 mph.

That Mustang with the racing stripes reminds me of my old horse; he didn't run off the road and have to be hauled off, though.

This Mustang is related to a snake - Cobra that is.

Ford is about to introduce its most powerful street-legal model ever. Arriving in the fall of 2019, the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 will make 760 hp and 625 lb-ft of torque from its 5.2-liter supercharged V-8. This output is quite an improvement from the last GT500 that offered 662 hp and 631 lb-ft of torque. Ford estimates a 0-60 mph time of about 3.5 seconds and a quarter-mile time of less than 11 seconds. It is said to be so much quicker than the GT350 that it needs hood pins to keep its heavily vented composite hood locked down.

No one injured when vehicle collides with Saguaro cactus in Tucson

                          Image

A cactus ended up through a car's windshield when the driver struck the Saguaro after crossing the median Wednesday morning in Tucson, according to Pima County Sheriff's Department officials....

The driver was the only one in the vehicle and had minor injuries. He was detained for further investigation after deputies observed signs and symptoms associated with impairment, Jelineo said.

No arrests have been made at this time.

                          That took talent.
