It may have been a joke about ladders, but it portrays perfectly the principle of supply and demand, which some think works well if left alone. And it illustrates not that the borders shouldn't be secured, but that walls aren't the way to do it. If secure borders was the most important criteria, it could be accomplished by (a) making the US undesireable to illegals by cutting off the jobs - i.e., being terminally harsh on anyone hiring an illegal; and (b) deploying real military forces and shooting anyone attempting to sneak in; (c) shooting anyone caught in the US illegally. That is pretty close to the strategy used by many of those you admire for securing their borders. Do you really think that the American public would buy into that plan? Immigrants, legal and illegal, are too important to the economy and everyone looking at the issue logically knows that. Do you remember the long line of caucasian US citizens standing on line to take the immigrants' jobs a few years ago when Alabama tried to chase them off? Nope, neither do I. Do you remember the caucasian US citizens standing on line to go to work for the Henderson County apple farmer who decided he would set up an "affirmative action program" for caucasian citizens? Nope, they weren't there either.

Better than bigger walls would be a better path to working legally. Not necessarily connected to citizenship.

I saw nothing in Andy's post that specifically said anything about Mexican terrorism. He said this:
"Have you noticed that virtually all other countries in the world secure their borders ? Especially Mexico, lol. And those who had / have walls......had remarkable success with them ? That is, if you don't just declare all walls "evil and oppressive".Mexicans are not the only illegal aliens that the US deals with.

They should be squashed, and the jobs made available back to citizens.
Due to bosses paying submarket wages.
That's true; however, raise wages...prices go up. It's the American way. SS recipients got a 1.7% pay increase this year; I'm still receiving notices of price increases in my monthly obligations.

The majority of jobs that illegals and legals work are jobs that lazy US citizens find beneath their dignity to work....but they sure want someone behind that counter at McD's when they go to order their Big Mac, fries, and diet Coke.

Work on a farm...? Grow/harvest produce...? Manual labor...? You gotta be kiddin' me!

this wasn't one of those times.

Some focus on substance, others on style.
That leaves you out in both instances, don't it.

Oh no, not more "werr smart your dum" childish stroking. Do you people have nothing else ?

One thing I've noticed on these boards is that the majority of conservatives have had careers, served their country or community (often a full career), achieved all of the educational opportunities that typically come with those pursuits, owned businesses, raised families kindly and decently, and so on.

The majority of the angry, spiteful, spit-flying liberals have never served anything but their self-importance, had all kinds of strange personal and physical problems and frequently bitch about their WIC, disability, early SS, alimony and restraining orders and lost kids ....often moving cross country for some meager new chance, late in life.

So yeah, I get it. I see where the opinions and stances break down. Looking for the excuses for various failures. It's Bush Cheney & Rumsfeld's fault ! Never your own.

Still misogynist, but you're too stupid and illiterate to know it.
If you repeat "misogynist" in every single post, it must make it true ! I'm certainly stupid / Illiterate enough to have retired from USAF after 22 years, and enjoyed countless free academic successes, thanks to them.

The buzz over at CPF is that several of you have enjoyed a steady flow of psychological problems, and bad / sad outcomes that come with it. True or no ?

The above is presented as the impressive results that can be expected after graduating the Andy Jackson course (free of charge to Andy) in General Sociology and Psychology. Notice how it tailors itself to present its own generalities as desirable but at the same time presents another set of generalities that are opposite and undesirable and admits this reasoning allows him to "see where the opinions and stances break down." The icing on the cake is how, once the generalities reasoning has been established, Andy ends his presentation with what seems to be a plea for individualism. Brilliant! At least now I know why this course is really free.

Well, it bothers me when people misuse the language, and I myself have commented on such. I particularly remember a discourse about apostrophes, when they're used, when they're not...that sort of thing. Don't get excited. Take a fucking comma, buddy.

As far as the rest of this tirade, I have no dog in the fight, so I'm steering clear of it because I have no opinion of CPF since I don't post there nor hang around to see who's bad-mouthing who. I have had some invites, but I declined. That being said, I'll carry on.
Vrede wrote:"Ah, a parasitic career socialist worker© with a sweetheart retirement earlier than productive workers get. Figures."
It's amazing that's Vrede's personal opinion of military men and women, especially retired military men and women who served their country in time of war or peace, doesn't seem to offend those who served their country with honor and pride.

So...I'll directly ask those of you who are "on his side" as far as ideologies and political persuasion....

Are you proud that you served your country?
If you retired, are you proud that the military gave you the opportunity to seek health care at the VA at little or no costs to you?
If you didn't retire...same question if you meet certain discharge guidelines.
Do you not feel some sense of resentment because someone who ran from military service, jealously posts ugly comments about your character and why you even joined (or were drafted by) the military? Are you really afraid of "offending" that someone because you're "on that someone's side"?

Best I can recall, Boatrocker, neoplacebo, billy.pilgrim, are definitely former military; can't call anymore right away.
Either you're afraid to stand up to Vrede's trashing you, your character, your honor, and your country, or you're just an out-and-out wuss.

Well, holy shit, Batman...it wasn't too long ago that I posted about not feeling as if I were a whore for the military while serving. I made the choice myself to join, no pimp involved. As for veterans being entitled to benefits, I'm all for it. If you figure your pay as an hourly figure while being in the military, you have to base it on a 24 hour day, not an 8 hour one. In my case, as an E-5 after four years of service, my pay was 599.40 per month. or about 83 cents an hour. That's after getting two promotions and one letter of commendation. I myself have never received any VA benefits other than those I used to pay for going to school; never been to a VA medical facility other than working at one on the work study program at school....good chance to see a bunch of guys sitting around waiting to die, which I don't consider to be a benefit unless you count being able to die there a benefit.
