2020 Elections

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

I'd suggest picking somebody with statewide positive recognition, who would be a popular candidate to run for and likely win an election on their own. Don't pick somebody like the repugs have done a couple of times and give the job to somebody to make all the check blocks who can't hold it.
I suspect that any Dem Newsom chooses will win the 2022 election unless s/he really screws up. If not, you folks will vote in some other Dem.

Tuberville seems to lack basic knowledge of World War II
New senator claims America liberated France "from socialism and communism"

To be fair, can't blame Auburn or even the state of Alabama - Arkansas public schools and Southern Arkansas University, B.S. in physical education.

I have no doubt Tommy was a fine Mulerider; that's probably what's wrong with him. His "degree" is awarded to 95% of its applicants just for showing up and looking physically fit. The other five percent are just too stupid for society in general and nobody knows what happens to them. I especially like how Tommy confesses he's going to immediately start violating ethics rules by trying to raise money for GA GOP wingnuts. He fits just nice with the GOP idiot crowd.

How is that an ethics rules violation? Pols raise money for other pols all of the time.

Ironically, with the exception of 6 years as an assistant coach at Miami, dummy Tommy spent his entire life either in socialist public schools or as a socialist worker. Maybe he's "French". Now, he has a new socialist job.

I read a story the other day about him and it quoted him as saying he'd spend a lot of his time in his Senate office fundraising for GA GOP Senate candidates, which the story pointed out is a violation of Senate ethics rules. I don't know what the "rule" specifically is.

Ah, it is indeed unethical and illegal for him to use federal office space, employees or other resources for campaigning for himself or others. If he's saying that's what he'll do, Tuberville is a slimy idiot yet again.

David Perdue: Georgia senator pulls out of final debate after 'brutal' takedown by Democrat goes viral

:violin:

RCP Average 10/7 - 10/27: Ossoff (D) +0.6

I won't say that this will put Ossoff over the top, but it's exactly the kind of thing that can decide an election. How weird is 2020? In Georgia there's a real possibility of:

Biden
RCP Average 10/14 - 10/28: Biden +0.4
Ossoff
Warnock (D), after a certain runoff.
RCP Average 10/14 - 10/28: Warnock +13.6

Wow. GA may be a bigger story than NC or FL, and I'm okay with that.
Yep, GA was and remains the story. Now more than 14.6M have watched Ossoff eviscerate Perdue in the debate.

GA results with 98-99% in:
Biden winning by 0.3%, recount in progress
Warnock (D) led by 7%, runoff 1/5
Perdue (R) led by 1.7%, runoff 1/5
GOP Sen. David Perdue won't debate Democratic challenger ahead of run-off election

... The Atlanta Press Club extended an invitation to Perdue and Ossoff to debate on Dec. 6, and while Ossoff accepted, Perdue declined, CNN reports. Ossoff was quick to call Perdue out, tweeting that he was "too much of a coward to debate me again," adding that Perdue "can't defend his lies about COVID-19, self-dealing stock trades, his bigotry, or his votes to take away Georgians' health care. Senator, come on out and try to defend your record. I'm ready to go." ...
Perdue is a wimp. Ossoff's ads are still running, Perdue's will resume here soon.

So I understand the Trump effect, and know that anybody who was willing to vote for Trump wasn't going to vote for any Dem. But Cawthorn outperformed Trump, meaning that either (a) some people voted for Biden and Cawthorn, or (b) that some voted for Cawthorn and didn't vote for President. Biden isn't Hillary and there doesn't seem to be any well-organized hate club against him. Moe was a middle of the road average white guy. What in fuck could these people be thinking? It's like they wuz sittin' around drinkin' one night and thought "hey, let's all vote for some total idiot - that'll show 'em." And the ones who didn't vote Cawthorn wrote in names like "Village Idiot" and "Trump Jr."

Actually trump and cawthorne performed equally. Cheetohead didn't perform as well as 2016 even with a higher turnout.

HENDERSON County went nearly 60-40 for Repugs across the board.
https://er.ncsbe.gov/?election_dt=11/03 ... &contest=0

Cawthorn did a little better than PINO, who did a little better than Tillis here - exactly the wrong order in a sane world.
https://er.ncsbe.gov/?election_dt=11/03 ... &contest=0

BUNCOMBE County, your former snowbird home, went nearly 60-40 for federal Dems.
https://er.ncsbe.gov/?election_dt=11/03 ... &contest=0

Even though BUNCOMBE is more populous, NC11 includes other counties besides just it and HENDERSON. BUNCOMBE is about 1/3 of the district. Cawthorn won by 12.16% overall. :x
Also, PINO won the state by just 1.34% and Sen Tillis won the state by just 1.75%. Arrrggghhh!
https://er.ncsbe.gov/?election_dt=11/03 ... &contest=0

NC Council of State is mixed.
Dems won GOVERNOR, AUDITOR and SECRETARY OF STATE.
ATTORNEY GENERAL may be going to a recount, with the Dem currently ahead by 0.26%, 13,654 out of 5.4M cast.
https://er.ncsbe.gov/?election_dt=11/03 ... &contest=0

NC judicial largely sucks.
NC SUPREME COURT CHIEF JUSTICE is going to a recount, 50-50 with the Dem currently ahead by just 366 votes!
The Repugs won all other SUPREME COURT ASSOCIATE JUSTICE and COURT OF APPEALS seats by small margins. :(

Half of Republicans say Biden won because of a 'rigged' election: Reuters/Ipsos poll

If they were smart and sane they wouldn't be Repugs.

 Yeah, I saw where the living corpse Alexander came out the other day. However, the story I saw about Blackburn, the wicked witch of the Volunteer State, says that her staff says she "misspoke" so I doubt Marsha has enough spine to defy trump. I'm so fed up with her I don't even send her hate mail anymore.
