But it does make a nice NRA dig though, to weaken the myriad of valid reasons for better firearm regulations that have nothing to do with terrorists. That's what we expect from them; take an extreme position that will attract derision or ridicule and then group the rest of the issue under it. Very Alinsky of them, I'd say.

Seth Milner actually believes that arming health inspectors and allowing guns in a facility for the developmentally disabled are good ideas. Wow.

Just so. Republicans spent the Bill Clinton years constantly declaring him a tax-and-spend lib'rul who would bankrupt the country. It didn't even stop once he left office, having been the most fiscally responsible President in a couple generations.

Obama is pro-gun even compared to even Reagan and Bush I, only calling for the same background checks that even NRA leader Wayne LaPierre was calling for a couple decades ago. And in case mindlessly partisan Republicans like Milner haven't noticed, very few liberals indeed have called for more than that in the last decade. As with most every other policy, Obama and most everyone today's Republicans would call "liberals", are essentially 1980s/1990s Republicans. *

That won't stop gullible wingnuts from embarrassing themselves with cartoons like the one above long after Obama leaves office. And they'll do the same for the next Democratic President no matter how pro-gun they may be.

* The big exception being of course same-sex marriage. Of course, 1980s/1990s Republicans like George and Barbara Bush and Dick Cheney support same-sex marriage too. Current Republican front-runner Donald Trump seems to oppose it only because he needs Tea Party support. With a majority of Americans supporting it and the percentage still steadily growing, the Republican Party will soon be The Party That Supports LGBT Rights, And Always Has.
