Melania Trump's favorability plunges in new poll

Melania Trump’s favorability among Americans surveyed in a new poll has taken a significant hit.

The CNN poll released Thursday finds the first lady’s favorability at 43 percent, a sharp drop-off from 54 percent in October.

Thirty six percent of those surveyed gave Trump an unfavorable rating, up 6 points in two months....

Ironically, this coincides with our getting to know her better this Fall.

Melania Trump Jets To Mar-a-Lago On Military Plane After POTUS Grounds Pelosi's Troop Visit

Hours after President Donald Trump abruptly canceled House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s flight on a military aircraft to visit troops in Afghanistan with a congressional delegation, Melania Trump jetted down to Mar-a-Lago in Florida for vacation — on an Air Force plane.

The first lady boarded the military jet on Thursday at Andrews Air Force Base, NBC and other media outlets reported. Quartz estimated the cost of the vacation flight at $35,000.

On Thursday, Trump wrote to Pelosi that he was canceling her foreign flight “due to the shutdown.”

He added: “In light of 800,000 great American workers not receiving any pay, I am sure you would agree that postponing this public relations event is totally appropriate.” ...

A White House official told NBC News that all delegations planning to travel overseas that intended to use federally funded military aircraft had been grounded by Trump until the shutdown ended.

No disagreement here, billy.pilgrim. My semi-fond feelings for her (Melania) and Tiffany are mostly relative to the rest of the POSPOTUS Klan - they don't speak in public much, rarely discuss politics and as JTA points out, they can barely hide their disdain for Dolt .45.

My feelings about Melania have since changed, but I'm still okay with Tiffany. I also like that she is pursuing her own profession rather than the family greed-fest.

Democrats Call On Mulvaney To Revoke Jared Kushner’s Security Clearance
The demand follows a report that an administration official overrode recommendations that Trump’s son-in-law not be given top-secret access.

... Kushner’s clearance was denied by two unnamed career White House security experts because of FBI concerns about foreign influence, NBC reported last week. But they were overruled by Carl Kline when he was installed as the director of the personnel security office of the president, according to the news network. Kushner, a senior White House adviser, was finally granted permanent security clearance in May 2018.

Kline overrode recommendations against security clearances for 30 people in the White House, an unprecedented number of reversals, NBC reported.

Trump told The New York Times in an interview published Thursday that he did not play a role in arranging top-secret clearance for Kushner....

Several of the security clearances approved by Kline are being investigated by the House Oversight Committee.

House officials have accused the Trump administration of causing “grave breaches of national security” by disregarding security protocols, according to a statement last week by committee chairman Elijah Cummings (D-Md.).

“The system is supposed to be a nonpartisan determination of an individual’s fitness to hold a clearance, not an ad hoc approach that overrules career experts to give the President’s family members access to our nation’s most sensitive secrets,” said the statement.
