Single hurricane thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

That's where you are? If so, phew.

Right hook over the very warm Atlantic. Could this be one of those storms that loops, strengthens and hits again?

Would that make it Bidalia?

My always favorite map showing steering fronts. That big H hopefully will eliminate any chance of a phase 2 returning to land.

You can click Stop and then use arrow keys to move one day at a time

Who is saying that? A TS across the southern tip of SC as it thankfully moves into the Atlantic as another Fish Storm seems much more likely to me.

Did you look at the map I posted.

Yeah, no matter if it takes an earlier turn than the WU map (the same noaa map I posted plus experts and more - I'm pretty sure) there will be wet water, big wet water in Savannah and Hilton Head and wind too.

Hilton Head might even get some surge.

Weather Hunk Jim Cantore is broadcasting from the second or third story from a building on Cedar Key as the surge comes in.

Scary.

Just watched. The Gulf isn't but a few feet deep for miles beginning around Hernando County up through the Big Bend. Prime for surge. There will surely be damage, but old construction on Cedar Key has been replaced. We'll see.
There may be more ptsd property damage.

"ptsd property damage"?

They thought it might reach Cat 4 before landfall, but it didn't. Must have been close.
Cat 2 all the way to the FL-GA line.
Cat 1 or close to it right through Charleston. Surge this eve.

Looks like good news. It's moving at 20 mph. If you get it, it won't be for long.
And they usually speed up over land

As I may have said, only 7 people live in the Big Bend area
And my favorite burger/ gumbo stop when traveling through the Big Bend definitely has another mark on the wall (actually the surge marks are on a piling near the bar.

Wasn't terrible:
Cedar Key, 140 miles away, did worse. I've been there and can picture the flooding. :(

In Cedar Key, Hurricane Idalia turned a ‘haven for artists’ into a flooded wreck

Hurricane Otis

Hurricane Otis Makes Rare Category 5 Landfall Near Acapulco, Mexico, After Explosive Intensification
... It's the strongest hurricane on record to hit this part of Mexico.

Poor Mexico :(

Kutupalong refugee camp

Kutupalong refugee camp (Bengali: কুতুপালং শরণার্থী শিবির) is the world's largest refugee camp. It is in Ukhia, Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, inhabited mostly by Rohingya refugees that fled from ethnic and religious persecution in neighboring Myanmar. It is one of two government-run refugee camps in Cox's Bazar, the other being the Nayapara refugee camp....
