Texas AG Ken Paxton’s Impeachment Riles Trump and His Minions

Of course it does, criminal solidarity.
... The Texas GOP-controlled House of Representatives voted to impeach state Attorney General Ken Paxton on Saturday. The Republican AG was impeached on 20 articles including bribery, firing those who reported the alleged bribery, and abuse of public trust.
:---P
Eric Trump, one of Donald Trump’s sons and EVP of the Trump organization, weighed in on Twitter: “This should never be allowed to happen to @KenPaxtonTX,” he wrote, though he gave no explanation as to why the 20 articles against Paxton should be dismissed out of hand. Meanwhile, Trump pundit and Donald Trump Jr.’s girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle said on Twitter prior to the vote that it was “absolutely disgusting” and called Paxton a “GREAT ally” to the former president and the MAGA movement, which Trump Jr. retweeted. She added: “Texans should stand with Ken Paxton because he always stands up for you!”
:crybaby: :puke-left:
Despite the Trump family’s objections to the proceedings, per state law, the 121-23 vote finds Paxton immediately suspended from office as he awaits the ensuing trial in the state Senate, where his final removal would require a two-thirds vote.
Ah, that explains it. Bye-bye for now, maybe forever.
Paxton’s wife, Angela, is among the senators who may vote.
:wtf:
In the interim, Republican Gov. Greg Abbott can appoint another individual to serve as attorney general.
:puke-left: S/he will also suck, though perhaps not as much.
... Prior to the impeachment vote on Saturday, Trump — alongside his family members — came to Paxton’s defense. “The RINO Speaker of the House of Texas, Dade Phelan, who is barely a Republican at all and failed the test on voter integrity, wants to impeach one of the most hard working and effective Attorney Generals in the United States, Ken Paxton, who just won re-election with a large number of American Patriots strongly voting for him,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“Hopefully Republicans in the Texas House will agree that this is a very unfair process that should not be allowed to happen or proceed — I will fight you if it does,” Trump wrote in a separate post. “It is the Radical Left Democrats, RINOS, and Criminals that never stop.” ...
:crybaby: Once again, Everything Trump Touches Dies.

FBI arrests Texas businessman linked to impeachment of state Attorney General Ken Paxton

The FBI on Thursday arrested a businessman at the center of the scandal that led to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's historic impeachment, a move that came amid new questions about the men’s dealings raised by financial records the Republican's lawyers made public to try to clear him of bribery allegations.

Nate Paul, 36, was taken into custody by federal agents and booked into an Austin jail in the afternoon, according to Travis County Sheriff’s Office records. It was not immediately clear what charges led to his arrest, but the records showed he was being held on a federal detainer for a felony.

Paul's arrest followed a yearslong federal investigation into the Austin real estate developer — a probe that Paxton involved his office in, setting off a chain of events that ultimately led to his impeachment last month....

Stupid at all levels in Texas:
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott Busted After Falling For Totally Bogus Garth Brooks Story
The GOP governor shared a report from a satire website about an event that didn't happen in a city that doesn't exist.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott took his Twitter feed to some low places over the weekend when he was duped by a satire website into sharing literal fake news about country music icon Garth Brooks.

Abbott linked to a story about Brooks from a satire website called The Dunning-Kruger Times. If the name alone isn’t enough of a giveaway, the site states outright that it’s part of “a network of parody, satire, and tomfoolery,” and adds: “If you believe that it is real, you should have your head examined.”

The story Abbott shared says Brooks was booed off the stage at the 123rd Annual Texas Country Jamboree in Hambriston, Texas.

But the jamboree isn’t a real event, and Hambriston isn’t a real place ― details that apparently raised no red flags with the governor as he tweeted the story.
“Go woke. Go broke,” Abbott tweeted. “Good job, Texas.”

Texas, for the record, loves Brooks as much as anywhere. He sold out the 72,000-seat NRG Stadium in Houston and the 80,000-seat AT&T Stadium in Arlington when his tour visited the Lone Star State last year.

Abbott deleted his tweet, but offered no apology to his constituents or Brooks for sharing the fake report.
Typical RepuQ, no honor or accountability.
And while the tweet itself is gone, it was preserved online by a number of people, including Rep. Greg Casar (D-Texas):
Greg Casar
@GregCasar

.@GregAbbott_TX just accidentally posted a satire article because he wants to hate on queer Texans and Garth Brooks so bad.

The Texas Country Jamboree doesn’t exist. Hambriston, Texas is not real. And the Governor is not fit to tweet, much less govern.

Happy pride! 🏳️‍🌈
Journalist Christopher Hooks also shared a screenshot of the tweet, and followed up with an excerpt from the story the governor fell for:

:laughing-rolling:
The Twitter account for the story’s “author,” Flagg Eagleton, is having some fun at Abbott’s expense, noting that he’s the highest-level official to fall for one of his stories so far and calling it some of his “finest work.”

He also tweeted in response to a Daily Beast report:

"journalisticatin'" is like a word that Whack9 would invent.

What horrible thing did "woke" Brooks do?
Brooks has not been overtly political in his music career, but did offer some words of wisdom in a 2020 interview with the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

“My message forever is tolerance,” he told the newspaper. “And don’t vote party, vote person.”

He was a little more explicit earlier this month when discussing his new bar in Nashville. While conservatives are boycotting Bud Light for its partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, Brooks said he would serve “every brand” of beer.

“I want it to be a place you feel safe in, I want it to be a place where you feel like there are manners and people like one another,” Brooks told Billboard. “Our thing is this: If you [are let] into this house, love one another. If you’re an a―hole, there are plenty of other places on lower Broadway.”

In a livestream on his Facebook page, he added that he embraced diversity and inclusiveness.

“That’s me,” he said. “That’s always been me.”
Texas Governors and other assholes not welcome. :o Shame! Groomer!
Twitter users tore into Abbott for sharing the false report about Brooks:

Ok, now crap like this doesn't help:
"Texas considers new bill that would severely limit residents’ use of solar power: ‘[It] would turn all of Texas into an HOA’"

https://www.yahoo.com/news/texas-consid ... 00575.html

There's enough craziness gets passed in places like Texas without making a big headline and internet story on something that never sees the light of day. But you have to get to the bottom of the second paragraph before you find "...it failed to get out of committee."

I'm guessing a lot of people saw the headline and maybe the first paragraph and are now going berzerk on their twitter and facebooks talking about how Texas is "shutting down them commie solar and wind people" or how "Texas is committing more environmental atrocities."

There are 150 seats in the Texas House and a fair number of them have to be held by moon-barking droolers. What good is served by giving voice to these people and their dystopian fantasies?

We have yet to find a limit to how stupid and whiny Teddy can be.
Old Ted Cruz Post Shows Him Pouring A Different Pint From Current Bud Light Gripes
Cruz criticized Anheuser-Busch InBev for "marketing beer to children" this week despite the Republican making brewing a family affair in 2019.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) went after Anheuser-Busch InBev, Bud Light’s parent company, for “marketing beer to children” on Tuesday despite the Texas Republican looping his pre-teen daughter in to help with a name of an IPA from the beer giant in 2019.

Cruz, who launched a Senate probe into the company after its right-wing backlash-causing Dylan Mulvaney partnership, wrote in a letter to AB InBev CEO Michel Doukeris that the company failed to “cooperate” and offered an “unacceptable” and “blatant disregard” of congressional oversight.

“The level of cooperation the Committee receives will bear significantly on my assessment of whether this is part of a broader problem across the [AB InBev] product line and whether changes to federal law are necessary to prohibit [AB InBev] from marketing beer to children,” Cruz wrote in a letter shared Tuesday.

The Texas senator, however, appears to have recruited one of his own children to help market beer for Anheuser-Busch back in 2019.

Cruz, in an X (formerly known as Twitter) post shared by Mediaite, wrote that he “teamed up” with the company to brew IPA before revealing how his then-11-year-old daughter Caroline would help him....

Houston Jack in the Box employee shoots at customers from Florida over missing curly fries: Lawsuit

... Ford is also named in the lawsuit, which seeks at least $250,000 in damages.

Ford was initially charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon but pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of deadly conduct. She got a sentence of one year deferred adjudication and completed it in June, court records show....
There was a child onboard, seems that there should have been some jail time for that alone. :naughty:

I don't have an opinion on Jack in the Box liability, but :wtf: . Oh that's right, it's Texas . . . possibly exacerbated by Florida -0-? . Could have easily been the other way around in these gunhappy states. :ateeth:
