There be crazies everywhere
For example:

Trump ally Nikki Haley turns on him during impeachment trial: ‘We shouldn’t have followed him’
'We can’t let that ever happen again'

My exact thought upon seeing the headline:

Someone tell her it is too late. She stayed on the trump train until after it crashed.
... Last month, the 49-year-old launched a political action committee (PAC) to support conservative candidates, amid speculation that she will run for president in 2024.

The committee, named the Stand for America PAC, has been formed to help conservative candidates get elected to Congress in the 2022 midterm elections....
I hope and think that she will be unable to shed the 45SHOLE stench. Anyhow, I've never thought that modern Repugs would really nominate a nonwhite or a woman. Article comments:
Don't hurt yourself jumping off the bandwagon Nikki. You are as self serving as the rest.
'We shouldn't have followed him.'

Sounds like something someone said at Nuremberg.

The GOP needs to die the death it deserves.

Bye, Nikki.
what absolute drivel
More at the link. Other tweets:
Nimrata stayed on the train even after crash till few days ago. It’s only now she is giving us warnings about crash
Trump LOST: the presidency, the House, the Senate, the trust of American voters, the belief in free and fair elections, the credibility of the Republican Party, the admiration of our allies, the fear of our enemies. What exactly are Republicans defending?
Great tweet!

I would not pick Nikki up under any circumstances if she were hitchhiking or broke down. I would not let her use my phone. I would not let her suck my dick.

One of the many harms that rump has caused is that liberals have elevated many die hard rightwingers simply because they hate rump.
Willie, Joe, Rick, etc. are now seem as sensible. I wonder if these Lincoln project/never rumpers will move the left even further to the right.

(Lying, whiny, idiotic, White) Lindsey Graham claims GOP will try to impeach (Black-Asian) Kamala Harris

Twitter Critics Go Bonkers After Lindsey Graham Pushes Lara Trump As N.C. Senator

... Graham ... deemed her the “biggest winner” of “this whole impeachment trial,” apparently indicating the future was now bright for all things Trump.

North Carolina’s GOP Sen. Richard Burr voted to convict Trump at his impeachment trial Saturday, saying the former president “violated his oath of office” by brazenly peddling unfounded election conspiracy theories and “directed his supporters” to “disrupt lawful proceedings” at the Capitol....

Lara Trump has never held elective office, nor does she live in the state Graham wants her to represent — and that’s the least of her problems, argued hordes of critics who couldn’t wait to post scathing putdowns on Twitter.

... She wasn’t, however, skilled enough to keep her husband from being targeted in an investigation related to expenditures by The Eric Trump Foundation.

Lara Trump has also been implicated in a scheme of her own with Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner, who reportedly helped established a shell company that spent half of Trump’s massive war chest and secretly paid family members and associates. Lara Trump was president of the company.

The company, American Made Media Consultants Corporation, functioned as a “clearinghouse” to illegally “launder” campaign funds and shield the identities of the ultimate recipients of payments, the nonpartisan Campaign Legal Center argued in a complaint filed in June with the Federal Election Commission....

A man charged in the Capitol insurrection says he dressed up as a member of Antifa and beat up police officers at the riot

A person charged in connection with the January 6 insurrection at the Capitol bragged to a friend that he dressed up as a member of "Antifa" at the riot, beat up police officers, and then said he "saved several cops from being killed by Antifa."

The messages, sent from South Carolina resident William "Robbie" Norwood on January 7, were included in an FBI affidavit to support charges against him, as previously reported by the Washington Post.

The affidavit includes photographs of a phone showing a groupchat on Facebook Messenger where Norwood claims dressing up in black as a member of "Antifa" - a leaderless group that frequently clashes with far-right organizations - would let him "get away with anything."

Later in the conversation, according to the photographs, Norwood claimed he was able to beat up police officers because "they were ordered to allow Antifa to get away with anything."

"It worked ... I got away with things that others were shot or arrested for," he wrote in one message.

He did not, in fact, get away with it. Norwood was arrested on February 25 on charges of obstructing a Congressional proceeding, disorderly conduct at the Capitol, and stealing government property.
:---P
Norwood also claimed in the Facebook messages that he "saw ANTIFA being bussed and in and escorted by the police," fought four police officers, and took the helmet and body armor from one of them.

The Facebook messages were shared with the FBI by one of Norwood's siblings, according to the affidavit.
... Norwood's messages underscore the scale of the conspiracy theory that Antifa, rather than far-right supporters of then-President Donald Trump, participated in the insurrection to prevent Congress from certifying Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 presidential election. The insurrectionists were composed of Trump supporters - many of which were members of extremist groups - spurred on by Trump's lies that he was the true winner of the election and that Congress and Vice President Mike Pence should not certify Biden's win.

Yet, during and in the aftermath of the insurrections, figures like Republican Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin and even Trump himself have pushed the conspiracy theory that "Antifa" participated in the attack. The claim has irritated members of far-right groups who have desired credit for the insurrection, and numerous US intelligence agencies have debunked the myth.

"We have not, to date, seen any evidence of anarchist violent extremists or people subscribing to Antifa in connection with the 6th," FBI Director Chris Wray said in a Senate hearing Tuesday.
The ONLY result of the Antifa conspiracy theory has been to further demonstrate to we normal people what gullible idiots Trumpettes and other right-wingers are.

A few days ago I read a story about one of these nutjobs; I think it was that Gosar moron talking about antifa and calling it a fascist organization. This not only demonstrates his ignorance of fascism, but his basic understanding of the concept of anagrams.....anti fa literally means "anti fascist" but this fucking clown actually believes the opposite. And this is the type of human the GOP sends to represent their "constituents." Hilarious. Tragic. Dangerous.

‘Whiteness’ vilified by ‘the left,’ says SC Rep voting against hate crimes bill

... S.C. Rep. Victor Dabney, a freshman lawmaker from Kershaw County, posted about his plan to vote on Facebook Wednesday morning, hours before the House met to consider a number of bills including a hate crimes bill.
Ummm, crybaby, "additional penalties for crimes committed on the basis of hate because of a person’s actual or perceived race, color" includes White victims, even White assholes like you.

It also seeks to protect "religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender, national origin or physical or mental disability." Wow, when I saw the headlines I was sure that sex, sexual orientation and gender would not be included, as is the case with federal and many states' hate crimes law.
... Lawmakers ultimately voted 79-29 to pass the bill, with Dabney voting against it....
Woo-hoo! :---P
In his post, Dabney said he would not “bow down to the ‘Left,’ ” and vote in favor of the bill.

“I am 63 years old and have spent my entire life watching our society give in to the liberals, and it’s never enough,” Dabney posted. “Our entire way of life has been vilified by the left; it’s our whiteness and our ‘straightness’ that keeps getting in the way.”

Dabney said he thinks white people are “constantly reminded that we are the problem because of our skin color.” ...

A Black man enslaved by his white boss for 5 years should be given $546,000 in compensation, a court ruled

Image

A man with an intellectual disability who was enslaved by a restaurant owner in South Carolina for five years should be awarded $546,000, a court ruled.

In 2019, Bobby Paul Edwards, who owned the J&J Cafeteria in Conway, South Carolina, pleaded guilty to one count of forced labor for "coercing an African-American man with an intellectual disability to work extensive hours at a restaurant for no pay," and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, the Justice Department said in a press release at the time.

As part of the settlement, Edwards was also ordered to pay John Christopher Smith $273,000 in unpaid wages and overtime compensation.

Edwards forced Smith to work over 100 hours a week without pay. He would also beat him with a belt, fists, and pots and pans, the press release said.

On April 21, the Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit ruled that Smith was entitled to double that amount, which would be $546,000.

The court said the district court did not properly account for federal labor laws when it made the decision on compensation....

Carolina Teens, Carolina Jury

Unread post by Vrede too »

2 men wrongfully sent to death row awarded $75M in damages

A jury in a North Carolina federal civil rights case has awarded $75 million to two Black, intellectually disabled half brothers who spent decades behind bars after being wrongfully convicted in the 1983 rape and murder of an 11-year-old girl.

The eight-person jury on Friday decided Henry McCollum and Leon Brown should received $31 million each in compensatory damages, $1 million for every year spent in prison, The News & Observer reported. The jury also awarded them $13 million in punitive damages.

“The first jury to hear all of the evidence — including the wrongly suppressed evidence — found Henry and Leon to be innocent, found them to have been demonstrably and excruciatingly wronged, and has done what the law can do to make it right at this late date,” Raleigh attorney Elliot Abrams said after the trial....

The two were released from prison in 2014 after DNA evidence that pointed to a convicted murderer exonerated them. They were teenagers when they were accused of the crime, which happened in Red Springs in Robeson County.

Attorneys for the men have said they were scared teenagers who had low IQs when they were questioned by police and coerced into confessing. McCollum was then 19, and Brown was 15. Both were convicted and sentenced to death....

On Friday, the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, one of the defendants, settled its part of the case for $9 million. The town of Red Springs, originally named in the civil suit, settled in 2017 for $1 million.

Friday's judgement came against former SBI agents Leroy Allen and Kenneth Snead, who were part of the original investigation....
Sounds like the judgement is against the agents, not the SBI, which means it will never be paid. IMO the 7 years since exoneration that it's taken to reach this point constitutes further crimes against the 2 men.

Since when are assaults with a deadly weapon considered to be a "misdemeanor assault"?

The judge and the chief of police are even now pondering this matter and wondering how, or if, they will survive it. Before it's over, one will turn on the other.
