AGT

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Week 4 (January 28)
Another so-so show to me, another failure for my favorites.

Issy Simpson - took 2nd in Britain's Got Talent at 8 years old, now 10, I'm not that into magic, but this was a good trick and she puts on a show, eliminated.

Paul Zerdin - Ventriloquist, my favorite of the night, took 2nd. :(

Kechi Okwuchi - singer, amazing back story and good at what she does, not my thing, Simon's Golden Buzzer.

Drew Lynch - comedian that stutters, not my thing, won/advanced.

Week 5 (February 4)
Asked myself if I was being masochistic after the last 2 weeks of disappointment. Instead, this was a great show throughout like Week 2. If you look up individual acts on YT or watch the rerun on Sun. night, you won't be sorry.

Solo singers, not my thing but they do it very well:
Jackie Evancho
- like an angel, AGT runner up at 10, now 18.
Sal Valentinetti - old style crooner.

Colin Cloud - mentalist, great trick.
Lost Voice Guy - unable to speak due to CP, standup comic with a recorded shtick that he makes gestures to. Sounds awful, but is hilarious. He won Britain's Got Talent in 2018!

Kseniya Simonova - rapid sand artist, amazing, won Ukraine's Got Talent, Terry Crews' Golden Buzzer, I'm glad she advanced.
Sons of Serendip - classical crossover ensemble with a singer, not my thing but they do it very well, took 3rd, eliminated.
Attraction - Hungarian shadow theatre group, incredible, won Britain's Got Talent in 2013, took 2nd, wished they'd advanced.

I watched Shin Lim. Didn't see the others, but Shin Limited (per spell check) was amazing.

If the rest are like him, I may have to start watching.

But last night was the last show.

Shin Lim - close-up magician, :wtf:  :!: WINNER! Good eye, you didn't need to watch the rest of the season, billy.pilgrim. :D
I wanted to not root for him since he's already had so much AGT success this year, but he was astounding again. He won the night, advances.

Finals performances next week. The 3 acts I like based on prelims, in descending order:
Deadly Games - danger act, knives, crossbow, etc., wouldn't bet on them.
Shin Lim - might bet on him, but tough competition and maybe folks will want someone new.
Kseniya Simonova - wouldn't bet on her.
Some sort of "surprise". Maybe 1 or more judges wild cards added?

Results a week later. That might mean that all get to vote rather than just the "super fans", but idk.

Good thing I don't gamble on this.
Meh.

First wild card:

Darci Lynne Farmer - phenomenal talent, took 2nd. She has had so much success at age 14, including winning AGT in 2017 and a 1 hour xmas special in 2018, that I don't mind her being eliminated.
Slayed it, as usual. A 14 year-old ventriloquist through a rabbit puppet may be my favorite Italian opera ever.
Vrede too wrote:

Deadly Games - Whoa! Heidi's Golden Buzzer.
Danger act, knives an crossbow the first week and this week.
“Do Not Try This At Home”
Some misses early, no one hurt, involved the judges later, which was cool.

Second wild card:

Overall a good show, worth finding individual acts on YT or watching the rerun Sun. night. Results next week, just the Super Fans voting, grrr.

I liked:
Cristina Ramos
Darci Lynne Farmer
Kseniya Simonova

All 4, along with Preacher Lawson, made it to the top 5, and Preacher Lawson (comic) left in 5th place. I finally synced with the Super Fans.

Cristina Ramos (singer) - 4th
Kseniya Simonova (sand artist) - 3rd

Interesting, the final 2 were the winners of the last 2 AGT seasons. In principle that's kind of lame, but they are both great, great performers.

Darci Lynne Farmer (ventriloquist) - 2nd
Shin Lim (magic), a favorite of billy.pilgrim - WINNER!

Results show tomorrow, repeats on Sat and Sun nights. 7 out of 12 advance, so there's a fair chance that all 3 of these will. Eric Chien may be the shakiest, there's another magician in the running whose trick I wasn't impressed with but the judges were.

I wouldn't want to have a beer with him unless there was money in it, but I gotta credit him with creating a global "_____'s Got Talent" empire. Anyhow, you can watch here de-Simonized. He's almost never on before the talent in these clips, and you can just pause after the performance is over.

There are some talented people on the show, fershure. I'd probably watch it if they got rid of, or offered a filtering app for, Simon Cowell. He's a dealbreaker for me.
I wouldn't want to have a beer with him unless there was money in it, but I gotta credit him with creating a global "_____'s Got Talent" empire. Anyhow, you can watch here de-Simonized. He's almost never on before the talent in these clips, and you can just pause after the performance is over.
Yeah, that's what I've been doing. Thanks for the cleaned-up vids.

Cool, let me know who you like or dislike now and then, please. Then, if you've got the time and energy, you can go to the Wiki pages I link and use the lists to check out acts that I never mention. Some are very good, just not my cup of Alex Morgan ;) . Pretty much every act in the semis has something going for it.

America's Got Talent > VIDEOS has all acts.

Talent Recap > VIDEOS has most acts, and often longer videos including backstories and/or judges' reactions.
