I wondered the same thing. I THINK that the clock was such that WA couldn't run it out. Hence 3 runs to bleed it. The analysts didn't criticize the time management. The clock-stopping injury was just bad luck.

There would have been about 20 seconds left and Texas would have had to drive the field.

They didn't over criticize it, but they talked about the victory formation and they were surprised Washington would even hand the ball off.

There will be stuff written.

Not as much as if TX had won.

Ah, I missed that chitchat, thanks. I guess they hoped to wipe out that 20 seconds, too. It will definitely be a shame if Dillon Johnson is knocked out of the Championship. He had 1,261 all-purpose yards and 14 TDs this year.

Kinda poetic that the 2 unbeatens will play after all the dithering over whether other 1-loss teams or ultimately crushed FSU should have advanced. There would have been a lot more, "Why not us?" moaning if 1-loss TX and/or AL had advanced. Both almost did.

You were 12 yards and a brilliant defensive play away from going 0 for 4 this Bowl season. Congrats to you and Lady O! Go Huskies on 1/8!

This year the playoff system worked. My favored system (pre-espn big-business money money money destruction of New Year’s Day best day ever for college ball) would have left me listening to all the bammer people claiming another championship. Yea, to this year’s champions, whoever they are, eventually on some random night in mid January l, found to be . Haha bama lost.

I miss the old way. And besides, my New Year’s Day football parties with three borrowed TVs, black-eyed peas, collards and corn bread were legendary. Haha bama lost.

This year - not so great. I was working on something and at game time elected to finish. I did see most of the 4th quarter. Great football
I had intended to watch the only “other” game on the day that was once the Greatest Football Day of the Year, but I was watching a movie and didn’t think about it until after midnight. That money genie is out of the box. Cotton and Sugar and Rose have been replaced by Muffler Thirty Minute Loan and Burger Shop rose Bowl
Haha bama lost.

Ex-Maryland QB Taulia Tagovailoa in portal, seeks 6th year

Former Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa has entered the NCAA transfer portal, and he told ESPN in a phone interview on Friday that he filed for a reinstatement waiver with the NCAA on Thursday for a sixth year of eligibility.
:( I don't have an opinion on the waiver, but I'm sad that he's done at Maryland. Either way, thanks for the memories.
Tagovailoa played five seasons, including his freshman year at Alabama in 2019. He went on to become the Big Ten's all-time passing leader in his subsequent four seasons at Maryland, throwing for 11,256 yards....
That's amazing.
He has 77 career touchdown passes, one of which came during that 2019 season at Alabama. He completed more than 66% of his passes during his final three seasons at Maryland....

I know y'all have been anxious for a preview of the FCS championship game in Frisco, Texas ;) :

Breaking down South Dakota State-Montana and picking best FCS teams ever

It discusses Montana's heyday in the 90s. Even getting stomped by Randy Moss was a special championship. Fingers crossed that those days are returning.

Sunday, January 7, 2024
2:00 PM
ABC/ESPN+
Montana (13-1) > South Dakota State (14-0, -13.5 :( )
