Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Next time they should challenge each other to a game of Russian roulette.

It doesn't get the credit it deserves because of the smaller population, but I think Arkansas may be as weird as FL or TX per capita.

Is it really assault or is it just extreme but consensual S & M?

This is not that unusual. There may even be a post here about a similar case with injury.

Went to Bays Mountain Park today with daughter and granddaughter, rode on the lake that used to be the source of my city's water supply until the 40's and saw a planetarium show about dark matter. Those planetarium chairs are pretty cool; sort of a cross between a dentist chair and a nice recliner. Anyway, since this is the traveling thread, I thought to mention that there's a big car race at Bristol tomorrow so they can determine who the fastest redneck is at that moment. I think it's the Food City 500 or maybe the Foot Kitty 2000; not sure. Anyway, Bristol is here in Sullivan County where I grew up but I can say I've never gone the eighteen miles or so up the road to see a racing event. I also don't recommend it to anyone here; just wanted to let it be known. good luck

 yeah, I agree; it would be a lot more interesting if they made the drivers run the opposite way on every other lap. I'd watch that. Oh, the news is on; the big race is Sunday, not tomorrow.....all that speed got me confused on my days. whew

Back when the original Dale Earnhardt was racing, he was being interviewed by one of the sports talkers, who asked him what his strategy for an upcoming race was going to be. Earnhart, with a straight face, says "I plan on standing on it and turning left." The man didn't take himself or his sport overly seriously.

Texas has got a lot of seriously fat big-haired women who wear religious t-shirts.

Nice - actually that looks a lot like our coach.

Getting through Texas isn't going to be much fun. We're passing through the hot spots of Texarkana, Paris, Gainesville, Wichita Falls, and Amarillo - much on roads that aren't interstates or in some places like US 82 not even four lane.

So if you're in Texarkana, you're closer to the Atlantic Ocean than to the other side of Texas. If you're in El Paso, you're close to the Pacific. And if you're up in the panhandle, you're only very slightly closer to Brownsville than to Canada.

And we saw our first Ted Cruz bumper stickers today. Drivers were pretty much what you'd expect.

Fuckabuncha Texas. There's sustained wind at 35mph blowing dust with gusts to 60 and 90 degrees. Saturday the high will be 40ish, low 25 and snow. Can't leave, can't do anything while we're here.

Well, we finally got a good day in Texas. Weather is tolerable - upper 50's - except the wind.blows.all.the.frickin'. time. Snow tomorrow. :angry-banghead: But we went to Palo Duro Canyon, which I'd solidly recommend to anyone coming anywhere around the Texas Panhandle. Second largest canyon in the US after the Grand, and it's a lot easier to explore. HIke, bike, or just drive through, it's spectacular. https://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/palo-duro-canyon
