Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

... Moose — an Algonquin word that means “twig eater” — injure more people than any other wild animal in the Americas....
I did not know that. I would have guessed deer through MVCs.
I once had a mama moose encounter while hiking by myself in Isle Royale National Park. She was feeding in a lake down the trail from me as I walked up. She stared me down and backed me up the trail about a quarter mile.

I finally left the trail and hid behind a tree and she passed me by. She won.

I was not feeling any love from her.

Friend and I woke up to snuffling and heavy footsteps just outside our tent in the Yellowstone backcountry. Finally got up the nerve to unzip and look - mama moose and calf grazing. First reaction was relief that it wasn't a griz, then realized that it was potentially just as dangerous. Spooked mama could have done a tap dance all over us. We lay there very very quietly until they left.

Speaking of dancing:

I could understand if this was a mating ritual, but babies do it, too:

Bear attacks climber

 Holy crap! Did you see the cub? I didn't.

Slo-mo showing barely missed bite and claw swipe, each fist and foot strike, and with cub pointed out:

Lookback at the bear attack

So many of these interactions end up being near misses like these two:

This was not a near miss:

New to me:

How unintentionally poisoning vultures is killing humans | It's Complicated

Africa has lost about 90% of its vultures over the past 50 years. It’s a rapidly growing crisis, and the decline is not down to natural causes.

Most of these birds are being poisoned, often unintentionally, by humans. We know the impact that mass vulture death can have on humans, because India suffered the same fate just 20 years ago. Neelam Tailor looks into how humans are accidentally killing millions of vultures, and the deadly impact it has had on people.

Lions, bears, coyotes, snakes of all kinds, hell, you've even got insects, arachnids and killer groundhogs

That, or stay out of canals.
That was a huge gator - way bigger than most in public-ish places. And they rarely attack adults and practically never on land. Gators like to grab their lunch and roll it around under water until it drowns then eat it in peace (piece?) But hey - nothing about Florida is "like it used to be" so maybe they're getting aggressive and vicious.

Sure, but what strikes me is that being the first gator he ever saw. I would avoid a second time.

The feral animal went on to attack a dog in the neighborhood the same day.

His story has proximity gaps. He sees an otter, walks away and the otter jumps him. Come on, where's the chase, the Battle at the Gate?
Besides the fact that there are no real Florida Mens living in West Palm, the only Scagliones in North America are New Yorkers (even the ones from Jersey) who are known to believe that all small furry creatures need to be petted and buffaloes too

:D Rabid otters prefer furriners and carpetbaggers?

Same as groundhogs, just different preferred habitat:

They kill their own parents, children and neighbours. Now life is even worse for the vicious alpine marmot
