Who would've thought?
The only surprising thing is that the asshole admitted where s/he'd been. Article:

You have to figure he was either infectious while he was at those places, or else he got it while he was at those places. I'm guessing there will be more. :o

If you look at how fast and thoroughly the virus can spread at a workplace where people are no closer than the idiots in the pool, you know those pools were just petri dishes.

... I will focus on the remarkable idiocy of staging a large indoor public gathering in Tulsa just now.
Tulsa may not be the single worst place in the US to have a mask-free and liability-free rally, though the just identified Whirlpool plant outbreak there may place it in the running.
Indeed, cases are going up sharply in Tulsa County (from 7-day rolling average of 13.6 cases to 53.37 cases for most recent two weeks) signaling substantial community transmission. The disease appears disproportionately concentrated among Hispanics who constitute 13% of the population but 27% of the Covid-19 cases.
Furthermore, Tulsa is near the border of several states; Trump's rally is likely to draw from these areas as well. Over in Arkansas, four counties at the Oklahoma border -- Benton, Washington (home of Fayetteville), Crawford, and Sebastian (home of Fort Smith) -- have experienced sharply increasing case rates in the last two weeks.
This is likely due to the concentration of meatpacking plants in the area, Nationally, these areas have been connected to Covid-19 transmission due to the tight quarters in processing lines and other areas in busy plants. Tyson Foods, the second largest meatpacking company in the US, is headquartered in Springdale, Arkansas, which straddles Benton and Washington Counties. It is a mere 100 miles from Tulsa.
Tulsa also is a few hours down the road from the southwest corner of Missouri. Jasper (home of Joplin), McDonald and Newton Counties each have gone from almost no cases two weeks ago to more than five cases daily per county -- in Jasper's case, nearly 10 (again, rolling 7-day average). This has led local authorities to reinstitute some precautions.
Trump moves Tulsa campaign rally from Juneteenth

Trump moves Tulsa campaign rally from Juneteenth 01:31
The source of the increase is not known, though adjacent Barry County features a chicken meatpacking plant that has seen its first two cases. As we have witnessed repeatedly, today's two cases may presage tomorrow's frantic headline.
Idiots.

Up to the counties.
Escambia had 21 new cases yesterday - 16 were from out of state - open those hotels and restaurants

I wonder if the 6 new local cases were hotel and restaurant workers.

It's back on track.
3 States See Record High In Daily Coronavirus Infections After Reopening

Texas, Arizona and Florida all reported their highest daily increases in new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, even after all three states implemented and later lifted stay-at-home orders meant to stop the spread of infections.

State officials in Florida reported 2,783 new cases, in Texas, 2,622, and in Arizona, 2,392. All three states have seen social distancing regulations relaxed for weeks, and most businesses have been allowed to reopen in some capacity.

The figures come amid ongoing efforts by President Donald Trump and other Republican leaders to downplay the ongoing spread of the virus. At least 21 states have seen rates of new cases increase over the last two weeks as a majority of the country reopens.

At the same time, Trump has been pushing misleading claims that infections are only increasing because there’s more testing, going so far as to claim Monday, without evidence, that “if we stop testing right now, we’d have very few cases, if any.”

The president is also preparing to hold a massive rally in Oklahoma this weekend with 20,000 attendees at an indoor arena, despite pleas from local officials and health professionals that the event could quickly lead to a renewed outbreak in the state. Infection rates in Oklahoma rose 68% in the second week of June.

“I’m extremely concerned,” Bruce Dart, the executive director of the Tulsa health department, told the Tulsa World. “I think we have the responsibility to stand up when things are happening that I think are going to be dangerous for our community, which it will be. It hurts my heart to think about the aftermath of what’s going to happen.”

Other state leaders have pushed back their own reopening efforts as cases have surged, including the governors of Utah and Oregon.

But in Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) said he was not considering another shutdown despite the surge in cases. He also rolled out the White House’s misleading talking point that cases were rising only because of increased testing.

“We’re not rolling back,” DeSantis said during a press briefing, according to the Miami Herald. “The reason we did the mitigation was to protect the hospital system.”

“You have to have society function,” he added. “To suppress a lot of working-age people at this point I don’t think would be very effective.”

In Arizona, some health officials were already reporting a strain on hospitals’ intensive care capacity due to a spike in coronavirus cases, even as Gov. Doug Ducey (R) said any concern was “misinformation” and said the facilities were prepared to handle an influx in patients.

And in Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said that, despite his own state’s figures, hospital capacity remained “abundant.”

“The more Texans protect their own health, the safer our state will be and the more we will be able to open up for business,” he said Tuesday.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the country’s top infectious disease expert, said that, despite the attempts to alleviate any concern, some states jumped the gun on reopening before meeting White House criteria on case levels.

“There certainly were states that did not strictly follow the guidelines that we put out about opening America again,” Fauci said in an interview with NPR. “Clearly there were states that ― left to their own decision about that ― went ahead and opened to a varying degree ... certainly before they got to the benchmarks that they needed to get.”

A Mad Scramble to Stock Millions of Malaria Pills, Likely for Nothing

The Food and Drug Administration’s abrupt decision this week to revoke an emergency waiver for two malaria drugs promoted by President Donald Trump as potential “game changers” against the coronavirus has left 66 million doses stranded in the federal stockpile — and officials do not yet know what they will do with them.

The FDA’s withdrawal on Monday of its “emergency use authorization” for chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine did not go over well at the White House, where top aides to Trump had rushed in March to fill the federal stockpile. That included accepting a donation from pharmaceutical giant Bayer of 3 million tablets from a factory in Pakistan that had not been certified by the FDA as safe.

“This is a Deep State blindside by bureaucrats who hate the administration they work for more than they’re concerned about saving American lives,” Peter Navarro, Trump’s trade adviser, who helped distribute 19 million hydroxychloroquine pills, fumed in an interview Monday night.

Medical experts across the country — including those who are researching hydroxychloroquine — on Tuesday applauded the FDA’s withdrawal of the waiver after it concluded the drugs’ potential benefits did not outweigh their risks.

An FDA spokesman said the White House and Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar were made aware of the decision before it was announced. But Navarro’s anger seemed to capture the futility of the administration’s headlong efforts to yield to the president’s wishes and rush the two drugs into use, yet another example of how politics and science have collided in Trump’s Washington....
Lots more to the fiasco at the link. This would be funny if it wasn't so sad and costly.

Everything is so great here that we are encouraging people to do stupid shit.

Its almost as if they didn't hear gaetz proclaim All lives Matter

https://weartv.com/news/local/pensacola ... recautions

"Recreations centers in the city of Pensacola re-opened and summer camps for kids kicked off"

"During the day the recreation centers are open for camps and in the evening they've set up time for adults"

“Each center has some open hours for people to come play basketball at some of the centers, you can take a couple of fitness classes they are slowly but surely coming back and we have weight rooms as well," said Tonya Vaden, Superintendent of Recreation"

"Inside staff members will be wearing masks, visitors are not required to wear one"

Anyone up for a pick-up basketball game?

Oh well, there are those who prepare and those who don't.

I'm having a bit of a hard time understanding why liberals are upset about trump rallies. I do feel kinda sick for thinking it, but these are the MAGEts, the racists, the ones who put trump in the WH, who deny Americans health care, deny education, they deny science, they even deny video and recordings, don't understand unintended long term consequences, they hate anyone and anything different than them, these are the people who have caused the murder of a million peoplein the ME, ...

So, they all going to rallies to breath and cough on each other and bring it home to their little MAGEt homes and then to the MAGEt bar to expose their MAGEt friends.

Well, yeah, if it really worked that way. But there's no reasonable expectation at all that their spreading will be limited to fellow MAGEts. Nevertheless, every instance where a MAGEt gets covid from or related to the rally will be celebrated in the O Really bunker. Assuming they even report the resulting covid cases, which I'm sure they'll try to cover up. Biggest celebration, though, would be if Trump or some of his top enablers got it. Or the limp-dick Tulsa mayor/governor whoever let him in.
