2022 elections

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Final (I think) ballot measure settled:
Arizona: Proposition 309 - Enact stricter voter ID requirements
Projected Winner No

This law would require voters to write their birthdate, government-issued identification number, and signature on a concealed early ballot affidavit; require photo identification to vote in-person; and require the Arizona Department of Transportation to provide without charge a non-operating identification license to individuals who request one for voting purposes. A "YES" vote approves requiring additional voter ID measures for early ballots and requiring voter ID for in-person voting. A “NO” vote rejects additional voter ID requirements for early and in-person voting.

No 50.4%, 1,216,153, 18,730 ahead
Yes 49.6%, 1,197,423
Est. vote in: 94%
Vote suppressors LOSE, as did so many cons in Arizona.

Arizona is officially purple, trending blue!

I wouldn't care if not a word of this is true. Her headline, the way way funny picture at the top of the article referring to ol doc Qz run for Senate as "deeply embarrassing".

I approve this article.

I got caught up in the Jezebel links to other Jezebel articles.
Doc Qz doesn't understand American politics.

I mean, do we even have a stupid rating for the candidate standing in front of Hitler’s car with swastika in full view.

Black Turnout in Midterms Was One of the Low Points for Democrats

... as more data becomes final, it’s clear that Black turnout is not one of those feel-good stories for the party.

We won’t get conclusive numbers on this for months, but the evidence so far raises the distinct possibility that the Black share of the electorate sank to its lowest level since 2006. It certainly did in states like Georgia and North Carolina, where authoritative data is already available....

That's insane. I knew their participation was high in 2008, but I thought once they started voting they would continue voting for their best interests. Even some 15% if black men voted for Walker. I believe that higher than I ever remember voting republican.

Am I reading this right. Republicans Rubio, Cruz, and Graham went against their party?

The vote FOR paid sick leave was 52-43, needed 60. :(

I don't think that there was a Caucus position.
As you pointed out, the full deal leans RR friendly.
Since 2016 the GQP has tried to portray itself as the defender of the working class, sadly with some success. Those 3 are safe for years, so they can embody that myth in a losing cause without consequence.

Never completely. Even if Warnock wins there will be times when former Mormon Sinema (deep purple AZ) joins Manchin.

Shaking my head at how close it is.

True, but any GA win was unthinkable 4 years ago. I know, it's still WTF?

I already thanked Dolt .45, sorta. Also thank Stacey Abrams, even if she couldn't score a personal win. :-||

Hard to believe that over 49% of Georgia goobers are as dumb as expected.

Way to go Senator Warnock

1.7 million people looked at their ballot and said to themselves "I'm gonna vote for the R football player"
I'd say even dumber than expected.
Or maybe not so dumb. If they're voting "big picture" they just want a reliable R vote. It doesn't really matter if Hershel can read or not, and they don't expect him to introduce legislation or serve in leadership. Just vote R.

And he would have.
