There's no one here that thinks that California is "one homogenous entity". We discuss its variety often. So, the entire tangent is pointless other than being a straw man diversion from COVIDiot Leigh-Allyn Baker being a Californian. It's ironic that you are so defensive over that undeniable fact, given California's diversity you know.

Yeah, it seems Ulysses was offended that a former fellow Californian was a certified nutjob, and feared that her nutjobbery would reflect poorly on the state as a whole and in particular the Bay Area, where she did not ever live. That seems to be pretty much the definition of taking an unrelated event unnecessarily personal. And it's not like California doesn't have its share of nutjobs - and some of them get elected. One has to look no further than Kevin McCarthy or Devin Nunes to suspect that "refugee" Leigh-Allyn Baker might not be the only nutjob living or who has lived there. But to my great pleasure, and probably Ulysses', the good part about California is that while there are many nutjobs, they don't usually get to run the place. That's really the downfall of places like Florida and NC - the nutjobs aren't the majority of the population but they still get elected to run the place.

Self flagellate? I fake it. Every now and then over the past month or so I've taken to getting up about 3am and opening my front door. Then I start whipping the tile floor with a leather belt and each time I hit the floor I scream out "fuck" or "oh shit" or "goddamn stop it" for about two minutes. When the cops get here they find nothing wrong. I mess up my hair and twist my shorts before answering the door. They eventually leave after I tell them their jaunt is useless. They just look at me funny and slink away.

I just had my 1st live Karen experience. I chose a Baptist site for a blood test because of their Everyone Wears a Mask policy.
The 60 something woman in front of me had her mask down around her chin, so I politely informed her that her mask had slipped down and she lit into me in full Karen.
The check-in lady behind the glass got up and came around into the waiting room and told her to calm down and wear her mask right, or leave.
I got out my phone in case she started throwing things but she did put on the mask and was still muttering incomprehensibly when I left.
