Biden Mocks GOP Senator For Touting Broadband Funding He Opposed
“See you at the groundbreaking,” the president tweeted at Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville, who celebrated getting money from the bipartisan infrastructure law.

... Biden dinged the Alabama senator again later Wednesday, during a speech in Chicago about his economic plan.

Some people “strenuously opposed” the infrastructure package when it was making its way through Congress, he said.

“There’s a guy named Tuberville, senator from Alabama, who announced that he strongly opposed the legislation. Now he’s hailing its passage,” the president said, while also reading Tuberville’s tweet aloud.

Biden paused briefly afterward to make the sign of the cross, drawing laughter and applause from the crowd.

The president went on to mock Tuberville for a third time, at another event in Chicago. This time, it was at a joint campaign fundraiser with the Democratic National Committee.

“I told him, ‘I’ll see you at the groundbreaking,’” Biden said of Tuberville, to a room of about 220 donors, according to a White House pool report....

Might be considered over the top if Tuberville wasn't such an asshole.

My only wish is that Tuberville were smart enough to realize that he just got owned.

President Biden designated a new national monument near the Grand Canyon on Tuesday. The move protects lands that are sacred to indigenous peoples and permanently bans new uranium mining claims in the area. It covers nearly 1 million acres....

The monument follows a years-long effort

In the Grand Canyon, tribal nations and conservationists have been calling for additional protections in the area for years, as KNAU's Ryan Heinsius has reported....

The new national monument will be called Baaj Nwaavjo I'tah Kukveni Grand Canyon National Monument. According to the Grand Canyon Tribal Coalition that drafted a proposal for the monument, "Baaj Nwaavjo" means "where tribes roam" in Havasupai, and "I'tah Kukveni" translates to "our ancestral footprints" in Hopi.

Biden's broader agenda

Biden has created four other national monuments during his presidency — one honors Emmett Till, and the others protect land in Nevada, Texas and Colorado.

But the politics of Biden's Western swing are broader than preservation. It is about emphasizing what the administration has already done to invest in the economy and the climate — because many Americans just don't know about it....
