Joltin' Joe Biden

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Morale is low, and some staffers are preparing to formally express their opposition to President Joe Biden's approach, officials told HuffPost.

I wouldn't want to be the decider. No one seems to have figured anything out since Carter, and he only came up with a partial solution. I ma glad that there are people like Josh Paul and the other State Department dissenters in government, though. :-||

Thanks. Good job weaving together Israel, Palestine, Ukraine, domestic terrorism, etc.

Add to the State Department doves:
More Than 400 Capitol Hill Staffers Call For Cease-Fire In Gaza
The staffers signed a letter as bloodshed escalates ― and as elected members of Congress are largely in lockstep behind the Biden administration’s approach to the conflict.

Muslim and Jewish congressional staffers signed a letter Thursday urging Congress to back a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas in light of “antisemitism, anti-Muslim, and anti-Palestinian sentiment on the rise nationwide.”

The letter, which HuffPost has learned has been signed by 411 staffers, comes as a small handful of members speak out against the Biden administration’s approach to the conflict.
I'm surprised that there are 411+ Muslim and Jewish congressional staffers.
Outside of Washington, Arab and Muslim groups are afraid for their safety after the murder of a 6-year-old in an anti-Muslim hate crime in Illinois. On college campuses across the country, both Jewish and Muslim groups said they felt unsupported and unsafe.

“Nationwide and in Congress, the voices calling for de-escalation and peace have been drowned out by those beating the drums of war. As Muslims and Jews, we are tired of reliving generational fears of genocide and ethnic cleansing,” they wrote in the letter.

The staffers spoke to HuffPost anonymously out of concern for their safety and job security....

“It often feels like the conversations on Capitol Hill are completely divorced from the conversations people are having amongst their friends, family and coworkers,” said another staffer.
True with so very many issues. :problem:
Other staffers mentioned their apprehensions about speaking out. Those concerns are not unfounded. Several staffers across multiple agencies, most of whom work on national security issues, previously told HuffPost they feared retaliation for speaking out against Biden’s policies towards the most recent conflict.

“I understood all the potential dangers, both in terms of my personal safety and career, when I embarked on this endeavor with my colleagues,” said another staffer. “We were scared. We had witnessed how unforgiving the world has been to those who shared our beliefs, but we thought that someone has to have courage, and while the stakes were high, our shared belief that we are on the right side of history was higher.”

Deep thoughts.......

The bungled impeachment inquiry into Jolting Joe could very well backfire as it did with Clinton. IIRC it made him more popular.

Understanding that no one agrees with a politician 100% of the time, Biden has accomplished an awful lot. If he were younger and more "vibrant" would he have a commanding leading in the polls?

His transgressions, to me anyways are not disqualifying. Especially when considering the alternatives as any alternative would help trump.

Agreed.

Yes.

To me, they would be if there were a "younger and more 'vibrant'" Dem alternative.

Especially when considering the alternatives as any alternative would help trump.
I'm not so sure that "any alternative" would. Joe is flailing.
He has options that may help.
Joe Biden needs to fire somebody, ASAP

President Biden needs to fire somebody — anybody — to show voters he understands they are angry about his administration’s innumerable cock-ups, and that he is angry, too.

When a president’s approval ratings hit historic lows while he’s running for reelection, he has to do something. Whining to the press that they are misrepresenting your success is, and sounds, pathetic.

The country is appalled at the way things are going and decidedly unenthusiastic about giving Biden four more years. One of the president’s biggest problems is his age. Biden seems frail (despite Jill Biden’s unconvincing testimony) and timorous; escalating aggression from our enemies is no surprise. We see Biden as weak, and so do they....

Firing one of his top officials could help make Biden look more forceful and decisive. Finding a worthy candidate is not challenging.
Karine Jean-Pierre, White House spokesperson?
Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas?
Defense secretary Lloyd Austin?
Treasury secretary Janet Yellen?
National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan?
Secretary of State Antony Blinken?
Brett McGurk, Middle East adviser
... The embattled president must act. After the raucous Trump years, many have celebrated the stability of the Biden White House. But stability is no substitute for competence.
-0-? It's an idea. Any bold moves by Joltin' Joe will be timed in theory to have the maximum positive effect in Nov. Could be that's right now to stop the bleeding.

It would be an easy decision to fire Austin. His secret trip to the hospital is inexcusable. He didn't have to make a public announcement, but not advising Biden and making sure his responsibilities were properly covered by an appropriate person isn't something you can forgive.

Seth Meyers Shreds Joe Biden Campaign's New Anti-Trump Merch
The "Late Night" comedian held his head in his hands before pointing out everything that was wrong with the products.

Seth Meyers is less than impressed with President Joe Biden’s new campaign merchandise.

The president’s reelection team this week released a new line of products bearing the phrase, “Together, We Will Defeat Trump. Again.”

:wtf:
On Wednesday, the “Late Night” comedian held his head in his hands.

“Oh, Democrats, why are you so bad at this stuff?” he asked. “That is not a slogan, that’s like an affirmation you tape on your bathroom mirror.”

“Slogans don’t have multiple punctuation marks in them. A slogan is like, ’Let’s go,’ or, ‘Vote or die,’” he continued. “This is a sentence so awkward that you think, ‘Oh it must spell out a cool acronym,’ and then it doesn’t.”

Meyers also took issue with its ending, saying, “You can’t end your slogan with ‘again’ when his [Trump’s] slogan ends with ‘again.’”

“Democrats, I’m begging you. Please suck less,” he concluded, before settling on a new rallying cry for the party: “Democrats: We Suck… Less.”

Watch Meyers’ monologue here:

President Joe Biden on Wednesday said he spoke to German Chancellor Helmut Kohl at the 2021 G7 summit ― even though Kohl died in 2017 and had been out of power since 1998.

Drop out, Joe.

Fact check: Biden makes three false claims about his handling of classified information
Joe Biden: A political hand grenade disguised as a report

... What's more, the special counsel presented specific evidence to back up this assertion. He wrote that during two days of interviews, Mr Biden had frequently been unable to recall details relevant to the investigation. More than that, Mr Hur recounted, he had struggled to recall which years he had been vice-president and when his oldest son, Beau Biden, had died of cancer.

It was this last claim that prompted an angry response from the president during his press conference at the White House on Thursday evening.

"How in the hell he dare raise that?" the president said.

The press conference itself could lend more fuel to the attacks on Mr Biden, however, as the president answered a question about the Gaza War by referring to Egyptian President Mohamed al-Sisi as the president of Mexico....

The Biden team has also been quick to pounce on the verbal missteps of his likely November opponent, 77-year-old Donald Trump. The former president recently confused his primary opponent Nikki Haley with former Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and referred to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban as the leader of Turkey....
"Mexico"? "Turkey"?
