Cyber Ninjas, the company that led a partisan review of 2020 ballots in Arizona, is closing down following a scathing report by election officials and the threat of $50,000 a day in fines.

"Cyber Ninjas is shutting down. All employees have been let go," Rod Thomson, the company's representative, said in a text message Thursday evening....

Maricopa County Superior Court Judge John Hannah said he would impose a $50,000 fine against Cyber Ninjas every day until it hands over documents related to the so-called audit after the Arizona Republic newspaper filed a public records request, The Associated Press reported Thursday....

County election officials released a report Wednesday rebutting almost every claim in the ballot review. It concluded that nearly 80 claims made by Cyber Ninjas were misleading or false....

What should we do with Arizona's fake Trump electors? Lock them up

Forget just calling Arizona’s fake presidential electors “traitors.” They should be criminally prosecuted.

What the head of the Arizona Republican Party Kelli Ward, businessman and U.S. Senate wannabe Jim Lamon and the other fake electors did isn’t a joke.

These and other prominent Republicans actually signed a document – as detailed by The Arizona Republic's Richard Ruelas – proclaiming themselves Trump electors, though Joe Biden had won Arizona.

Thankfully, these people weren’t allowed to get away with their coup. But they and all others who did the same thing elsewhere should be criminally prosecuted.

Brnovich won't investigate. The feds must step in

In Michigan, where Biden also won, the state attorney general is asking federal prosecutors to open a criminal investigation into the fake electors....

There is no way that Arizona Republican Attorney General Mark Brnovich would dare ask the feds to also investigate Arizona’s fake electors....

Brnovich is too worried about upsetting Trump loyalists even more, so that leaves federal prosecutors as the only ones to try to hold the phony electors accountable.

They must do so – not just in Michigan but everywhere Trump loyalists signed a document – effectively forging a public record as Nessel noted.

Who knows what these fake electors will try to do next if they’re let off the hook?

U.S. charges Texas man for threatening Georgia election officials

The U.S. Justice Department on Friday announced it has charged a Texas man with making violent threats against Georgia election and government officials. The indictment marked the first case brought by a federal task force formed in response to a wave of intimidation that has engulfed election administrators since the 2020 presidential vote.

The matter is one of “dozens” of such cases under federal investigation, said Kenneth A. Polite Jr., the assistant attorney general for the department’s criminal division.

The election threats task force was announced last June, shortly after Reuters published the first in a series of investigative reports that have documented more than 850 threats and menacing messages to U.S. election workers. This campaign of fear has been carried out by supporters of former President Donald Trump who embrace his false claims that he lost the election because of widespread voter fraud.

Polite said the Justice Department had also analyzed more than 850 reports of threats to local election officials.

The indictment alleges that Chad Christopher Stark of Leander, Texas, posted a Craigslist message on Jan. 5, 2021 entitled, “Georgia Patriots it’s time to kill.”

"It's time for us to take back our state from these Lawless treasonous traitors," he wrote, calling one of the Georgia officials a “Chinese agent.” "It's time to invoke our Second Amendment right” and “put a bullet in the treasonous Chinese” official....

Raffensperger’s wife Tricia also received a wave of death threats that Reuters documented in its June report. Election workers in Georgia faced an onslaught of menacing messages following the 2020 vote as Trump and his allies sought to overturn election results in the state.

Reuters also spotlighted threats of lynching and racist taunts against Georgia election worker Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Wandrea “Shaye” Moss. Both received a deluge of hate after they were falsely accused of fraud by Trump himself. A senior member of the Trump campaign confirmed to Reuters that he participated in a bizarre attempt to pressure Freeman to falsely admit voting fraud, Reuters reported.

Trump is facing a criminal investigation by the district attorney in Fulton County, which includes part of Atlanta, into alleged election interference in Georgia....

The indictment by the task force is only the second known federal charge for threatening election workers since the 2020 vote. In December 2020, federal prosecutors charged a New Hampshire woman with threatening a Michigan official....

The quarterback ruffled feathers by bashing the Packers before the season started, but his penchant for controversy transcended sports when he outed himself as an anti-vaxxer during a November appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. Fresh off testing positive for Covid, Rodgers cycled through a laundry list of MAGA talking points, whining that he’s in the “crosshairs of the woke mob,” praising Joe Rogan, and even quoting Martin Luther King, Jr. “You have a moral obligation to object to unjust rules,” he said from his couch.

Rodgers added that he’s doing his “own research” about the virus, which is anti-vaxxer code for treating the word of quack doctors and conspiracy theorists as gospel while ignoring or mischaracterizing the work of infectious disease experts. It’s difficult to merely dabble in the world of conspiracy, where the slopes are slippery, and Rodgers is now casting doubt on the legitimacy of the election because he doesn’t think President Biden is a good public speaker — or, more likely, because he saw someone else make the same case....
