We were lucky - the big storm was pretty much a non event for us personally. We had constant rain for a couple of days but mostly gentle, and the area where we are has great drainage both natural and infrastructure. Some relatively minor flooding on some low roads but we easily avoided it. But the weather chicks didn't say this in so many words but basically if where you live ends in "Valley" you might get uncomfortably wet. Back to sunshine today.

:D "Canyon" and "Hills" are problematic, too.

California rainstorms brought — and kept — a lake at Death Valley

Not worth a cross-country trip to me, but I would love to see it.

Take care, you're due for another 0.02" tonight :o

Since you were also bi-coastal:

Kid Rock's Oceanfront Home Hangs In The Balance As Erosion Threatens Coastal Properties
Jupiter Inlet Colony, Florida (directly across the state from Naples)
Dana Point, California (1/2 hour up the coast from you)

I think it's a message from liberal Jesus that Kid Rock need to repent of his sinful RepuQ ways or face the consequences

The pics on those Dana Point houses were spooky, considering people are still living there. But the whole area from San Clemente north is sliding down, just not all at once. The railroad past San Clemente has been closed for months to passenger trains because of landslides.

Here ya' go:

Back to sunshine today.
But Oceanside was on CBS this morning in a brief segment on beach erosion. Followed by a segment on flooding in Bay area. It didn't say anything about Useless.

Upper 60s yesterday, wore shorts . . . in Feb! 20-something Feb days of "above average" temps :wtf: Did you know that "average" is based on just the previous 10 or 15 years. This sorta makes sense, but it has the effect of distorting downwards the cumulative impact of AGW :problem: Even so, more and more often we're setting records that eclipe even the prior decade :angry-banghead:

Supposed to be in the lower 70's here today and tomorrow. February here has been very atypical.

We had a glorious day today - much better than had been predicted. We were supposed to have mostly cloudy mid-60's but by 11 the clouds were mostly gone. We took a long walk and then watched the surfers on 5-6 foot rollers. Made the customary stop by the fish monger, fired up the grill, poured a couple glasses of Gewürztraminer, and expect a good sunset. Good times.

More about that "glorious" SoCal weather:

California's coveted coastal cliffs eroding in atmospheric rivers

... There is a nuclear power plant right on the coast in San Onofre that is vulnerable to erosion and sea rise. The train line along the coast has been closed when landslides cover the tracks.

And Treseder cannot sugarcoat what is in store for the owners of some of the most coveted homes in the area.

"We have many, many multi-million dollar homes all along this coast that will be falling into the ocean," she said....

Funny you'd mention San Clemente - we were up there today. Some of the ones close to the cliff edges do look frightening. But look - houses have been falling off steep hillsides for decades from Seattle to San Diego. The harsh weather from climate change has certainly made erosion faster, but it wasn't Mother Nature who told those people it was a good idea to build on the edge of a sandy cliff. Some might have been warned even from the Bible
In Matthew 7, Jesus said everyone who hears his words and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. Then he went on to say everyone who hears his words and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand

Can "built his house on sand" also be a metaphor for building millions of houses in the desert? :P
