Michigan Supreme Court refuses to hear case of James and Jennifer Crumbley

The Michigan Supreme Court made history Friday in letting the unprecedented charges stick against James and Jennifer Crumbley, the parents of the Oxford school shooter who must now stand trial for their alleged roles in the deaths of four students murdered by their son in 2021.

The Crumbleys are the first parents in America charged in a mass school shooting as prosecutors seek to hold them criminally liable for buying their son the gun that he used in the massacre, and, for never telling the school about the weapon when they were summoned over his troubling behavior.

The parents, who are facing involuntary manslaughter charges, have been fighting for two years to get the charges dismissed. Their final appeal was before the Michigan Supreme Court, which after seven months of receiving the request, opted not to hear their case....

Oh my, I heard on TV that he attacked a bar and bowling alley, and my first thought - shame on me - was 'I hope they got the Walmart locked down in time.' So, I went to the Sun Journal (Lewiston, Maine) and learned:

At least 22 people were killed in three separate incidents Wednesday night in Lewiston, Androscoggin County Sheriff Eric Sampson confirmed.

That number could rise, he said.

Police, fire and rescue personnel descended on Sparetime Recreation on Mollison Way about 7:15 p.m., responding to a report of an active shooter. Shortly after, reports came in that there was another shooting at Schemengees Bar & Grille on Lincoln Street.

Lewiston public information officer Derrick St. Laurent told the Sun Journal at about 8:15 p.m. that another shooting had been reported at the Walmart Distribution Center on Alfred A Plourde Parkway....

Man Who Sent Vile Messages To Father Of Gun Massacre Victim Gets Year In Prison
James Catalano, 62, sent the father of a slain female student messages for eight months celebrating her death and mocking the sadness and loss her father felt.

A California property manager was sentenced to a year in federal prison for sending more than 200 vile online messages to a father of a teenage girl who died in the 2018 massacre at Florida’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

James Catalano, 62 of Fresno, was sentenced Friday by U.S. District Judge Robert Scola in Miami after pleading guilty in March to cyberstalking. Prosecutors called the messages he sent Fred Guttenberg “callous and cruel.”

Guttenberg’s 14-year-old daughter Jaime Guttenberg was murdered in the Feb. 14, 2018, shooting in Parkland that left 14 students and three staff members dead. Catalano also received three years probation and must undergo mental health treatment.

Catalano sent Guttenberg messages for eight months starting in December 2021 that celebrated Jaime Guttenberg’s death and reveled in the wounds she suffered. He also mocked the sadness and loss Guttenberg feels and directed obscenities, slurs and disturbing insults to him and his daughter.

Catalano told investigators he was angry at Guttenberg for his outspoken advocacy for stronger gun laws since his daughter’s death. He told them he believed Guttenberg was using his daughter’s death “to push his political agenda” and was “trying to put (Guttenberg) in check by sending him the messages.”

“By his own admission, the defendant was motivated to stalk the victim and send him heinous messages simply because he disagreed with the victim’s political views,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Arielle Klepach wrote in court documents. “He capitalized on the victim’s grief and the horrific nature of his daughter’s death in order to silence him.” ...
